They opened up the ski slopes down here when we had the last snow plus they fired up the snow machines. I remember back whe I was a kid 5+ decades ago we had some serious snows here but seems like over the years they have dwindled down. On TV I saw a motorcycle race on an ice track. Looked like the tires had some sort of spikes in them. They were laying the bikes over just like on a dry dirt track. You're right about the salt messing up the cars. Anymore around here as soon as the temp begins to drop pretty low ans they're calling for snow, they send out the wet chemical trucks and they wet down the roads with a salt solution. The pull off lanes on the sides of the roads are still white from where they treated the roads last week. Temperature got up to 51 today but there's still a lot of snow laying around. Reckon like they say, it's waiting around for more.:(

They started down hill skiing at the slopes on MT Hood on Thanksgiving weekend. Me and the ex with our two kids used to cross country ski around MT Hood in the winter months. We even skied down to a lake a time or two and trails around it. One year it got so cold up there we skied across the lake. Pretty good camping up there in the summer months.

Here are a few photo's of it. CB would really like it when its snowing. :)

Set in snowing late yesterday and the wind picked up so things started freezing and the snow started laying...........and I just gave up and went to bed. Got the snow thrower out a while ago and cleared off the worst of the stuff in the driveway so then took the shovel and got the slush ice off. The sun is coming out and in so hopefully it's dry the driveway and make it easier to get ut to go to work in the AM. Weather report earlier said we could get up to 6" tonight but I hoping it'll stay north or east of us. Sure is pretty though with the sun shining on it but it sure is treacherous too. Reckon I better plug up the battery tender on the Harley too.

Later dudes and dudettes...... You all enjoy the day as much as you can. Especially you folks up North where the weather is much worse than here. If you have to get out, be careful - I enjoy reading what you have to say.

Well in the last few days we have had an approx. whopping 25 inches of snow! Every 1" of rain approx. equals 10 inches of snow.:cussing:

Snow and drifting so bad in our area the Gov. called a level 1 emer. and shut the the roads down. Had a count of 35 vehicles stranded on the way up to O'hare Airport and the state LEO's reported 45 accidents in two counties before I got back to the home base with my pass. - Normally it takes bout 6.5 hours round trip but this time I was behind the wheel for 13 hours nonstop. The weather was so bad that my average speed for the trip was 26 mph, half the time we were in white out conditions. Just glad I don't have to make that run again.

This whole weather mess across the country is caused by that global warming thing that gore started. Maybe if they get rid of him the weather will get back to normal. :D

    Good y'all keep it
we pay good money to never see it but on Tee Vee LOL

So far here the oranges (citrus) is doing well,
you freeze it with water and it actually makes sweeter fruit

however you can only do it for so long then it becomes a
    problem...
