Port and polish the one you have and it should be fine.

No need for polishing. I am pretty confident that I won't need to switch air intakes. One just never knows though.

Just a quick update. This week I purchased some hoses that I need so just need to pick those up. Here in about one week will be shipping the heads to Idaho to start executing the project. Won't be too long.

This week I will be shipping the heads off to Idaho. Have the boxes just need to get the bubble wrap and packing peanuts. I dropped an email this morning to Hammer Performance to let them know that they are on the way.

screw the peanuts, I"ve seen heads shift in boxes and crack the fins
based on the way these shippers toss shidt and the machines peanuts won't
hold up, wrap the head in plastic, and then place in box on some stiff foam, and fill around the head with the expanding foam you get at lowes.

The stiffer hard molded foam holds the head in place which is a key
    in keeping it safe.

When I shipped my heads off to get rebuilt, I wrapped them in bubble wrap - lots of it. Peanuts shift around too much. I filled in the empty spaces with more bubble wrap.

I got a call from Hammer Dan yesterday asking if I was going to ship the cases. I said yes, I am about one week out for that. Getting closer!

Sounds like you're having an eventful year in Minn.
And yeah, if I have not chimed in yet, I figure you could likely get the guy at work in the quarter mile after a proper break in. What size tire at the back? Traction will be your only issue. Swap to chain or will belt take it?

Is that a 130 on the back? I think in 04 went to 150, unless I'm mistaken.

Since someone asked, here is an update on my project. I have been able to get very little done with my engine. Work is pushing for more time being spent there and there is a possible promotion on the horizon for me which would require even more time being spent there. Not only that, my family is facing a distinct possibility of court battles with regards to my granddaughter so I tucked away my Sportster funds temporarily to see where that goes. My heads are at Hammer Performance and spoke with Dan yesterday. There is a small hiccup though. We agreed that the heads would be cut for the use of a 15° squish band piston but they cut them for the use of a 30° squish band piston. The 30° is better in most people's opinion, however, by using that 30°, I now have to have a custom piston made. I chose the 15° for the specific reason of ease of replacement if something should happen. However, they are going to charge me only for the price agreed upon for the 15° piston. I can live with that. From my conversation with Dan, the piston is good for about 10 hp. The downside is that there may be a residual cost of now having to drill in compression releases which I would rather have anyway, just wasn't planning on it. No biggy.
