i actually grew up around Scott...western clinton county...you are right, north st. louis is as bad as anywhere in the U.S. now. I tend to stick to my rural Southern Illinois roots and backroads...a couple long road trips each year...I don't know why I am acting like such a pus sy...probably cause i have been talkin about a .45 for a while now and haven't done it yet...

I never looked that close at the two, but it sounds about right. I'd change the exhaust on the Fatboy anyway, and put on locking hard bags. With the Heritage I'd have to change out the bags because I'm just not into all the decorative hardware. i prefer the fender without the trim, hence my preference for the Road King Custom and Street Glide in their respective families. Guess I like that stripped down look. ;)

I didn't realize this thread started almost a year ago! I wonder what that guy did. Hmmm. :roflmao:

yeah, it sounds like you picked the right bike for you...as you can see I am a FATBOY...both ways. You are right, change the exhaust...i went from screamin eagle II to VnH short shots...loud as hell on a stock motor, but it dirties the back wheel worse than ever

Have a friend that left Hoppe and started his own company, makes a nice faring for
    softails, road kings etc.

    Glenn Woods is his name

    Woodys Farings

These are USA hand made and top notch stuff (not top priced)
but he's a single guy doing the work himself, nice parts
and like I said USA made.

Figured I'd give Glenn a plug..

He doesn't get any stim'ls money LOL

Fairing is an after market. Mine is made by Wide Open Customs Plastic. Wide Open Custom Plastic, LLC > Home It is a quick detach. You can get it with a radio, has 4 speakers. I don’t have a radio in mine I made it into a glove box type thing. I’ve had mine for 3 years now, seems to be holding just fine. I think I paid around $600.00 for the fairing and another $550.00 to have it painted to match the rest of the bike. My painter did an excellent job, it looks like it came from the factory. When you get this particular fairing it comes an ugly whitish plastic color. I looked at all the brands before I made my purchase and I am satisfied with what I have. A friend has a Hoppe fairing on his Heritage, and look ok. I plan to get a Memphis Shades fairing for my wife’s bike (they don’t have a dash). I make all my own windshields. There are a lot of manufactures making fairings I’d suggest looking at all of them in person before purchasing one. Of the ones I looked at this one seemed to fit and look the best. At the time money never played into which one I purchased. I run a set of 12” mini apes behind the fairing.
The bags are off a Road King and came the same color and pin striping as my bike. The mounting hardware came from Cycle Vision. http://www.cyclevisions.com/home.html/ They are cheaper now than when I bought mine, I have installed them on a couple of other bikes.
I can have the whole bike stripped in a few minutes, the saddle bag brackets take a few minutes. I also have the signal lights on the saddle bag.
Also have a detachable back rest with a small trunk on the luggage rack.

JMO - I would opt for the Hertiage over the FatBoy - more bang for the buck and you can always take off the extras until you need them.:)

And I also prefer that 45 ACP over the 9mm - Why shoot em three times when once will do?:roflmao:

That's my opinion to on the Heritage but then I ride a Ultra with everything one it.

As for the 9mm or 45 ACP, one well placed 9mm will do it nicely. The 45 will just do it bigger. :D You should have seen what my 444 Marlin did to the deer I shot in the head.
