Back in 1979 when I got out of the service I rode my Sportster from Clarksville, TN to Centerville, MI to get home ( just about 500 miles, give or take a few). As I recall, the trip took me about 14 hours. I wouldn`t want to do that ride on a Sportster again for anything, but I`d like to do it on my Road King once to see how it compares.

Well, with that 2 gallon tank I was forced to stop every 100 miles to gas up anyway. I was sticking to the interstates as much as I could, since I was trying to make good time getting home.

I'm there but I have to depend on the OL to take care of me. She is younger.

Sounds like a memorable trip and everything worked out. It sure is a much different trip on a bike specifically made for that. Even still, with an Ultra all the duress is not taken out of it completely. By myself and a time or 2 w/ my wife as a passenger we've done 600 miles days. I feel strongly that it is too much for her although she hangs in there like a trooper(but shouldn't have to). We limit it to 400 mile days. Makes it more enjoyable and a 8-4 kinda day.

A young wife would be good, but then, I don't have enough money to attract or keep one. You need to at least have a CVO or a Porsche to get them to glimpse.

Josh, you definitely have SOMETHING going. Care to let us in?

It was a memorable trip, for sure. Now that I`ve got my Road King it`s time to make more memorable road trips w/ a little more comfort. I`m thinking at my age (mid- 50`s) 500 miles a day would be about the max I could go.

It's true, the older ones don't need any more training, but sometimes a new model can be fun even without a warranty.

It's awfully quiet there Mr. Josh.....
