Couldn't open the kerker .jpeg. Got the following message - Invalid Attachment specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator. Don't know what could be going on as I usually don't have any problem with jpegs. Anyhow maybe I can go to the kerker website and see some. What's the model # and what did they come off of. I'll try to open the pic when I get to work next week. As far as tools and such, I've got that covered. I've done all the maintanence on our vehicles for the last few decades - enjoy tinkering.

Any wrebching you can yourself on the ride is going to save you a bundle of money - and shoppin around for price breaks on the net is also a big help. One of the byproducts of doing that, came my way when I mentioned that I could get a better price on the net to may local shop. They offered to match the price that I had got and asked me to let them know if I did anymore shopping and they would match or beat the price. Only draw back to that offer was having to pay sales tax.

i would like to mention one thing here......if we dont spend out money with the local indys, they will go out of business and all that will be left is the stealers. i try to spend as much as i can locally, and i know i pay a bit more for it, but when i need that indy, his door will still be open.

Both are good points - searching/webbing for the best price and then supporting the locals too. I, and probably most folks out there, do a little of both. Personnally that's the way I think folks should do. Shopping for the best price can give us a good idea of what things should cost but then to buy something locally we have to be willing to pay a bit more for convenience - a bit more, not a ransom. Some local shops are happy with a bit more and consequently stay in business because customers will pay the little extra for the immediate customer support while other businesses that charge the ransom may well go out of business. Also most aprts houses are adopting the price matching thing which tells me that they themselves realize that they are overpriced.................for what it's worth.

You can order them directly or from an Indy shop, or any one of the three HD discounters I gave you. Also they have a factory outlet, so you might find some seconds with blems or returns... I suggest tapered unless you like it LOUD, on the right side as the bologna or slash cuts can put out some sound..

Give Phil Sudduth a call at
Calif Phils in Ks he'll treat you right on all the products. Tell him HRK sent you.

Stopped at another local HD dealer today and got yet another perspective on a Stage 1 upgrade. The guy I was talking to said when tuned/dynoed right, he has seen HD's get up to 60 MPG - and we were talking about the big bikes. Now that's some a serious number. He was talking about a HD Supertuner, SE breather and Rush slip-ons. What does the jury think about that?

Yea, a looong stretch, Chuck. I think that HD dude doesn't know what he is talking about and if you did ever get 60 as said it would be running way to lean.

That's sort of the way I felt but I stayed "poker faced" until the new worn off of what he had said. I filled up yesterday afer a ride of about 80 miles and got 45 and that's about as good as I can get right now.

    Another Question,
Is it the weight of the E-Glide that makes them get less mileage than I get with my Fatboy? Or is it the Fuel Injection rather than a Carburetor.

The weight and the batwing on the E-Glides will cost a little in mileage. 45MPG is pretty good for a decker.
Like Chuck said Support Your Local Indy, buying parts may cost a couple of bux more, usually not a lot more but on the other hand if you get a smokin deal on something he won't say "If you didn't buy it here we won't install it"
Their shop rates are usually less than the Stealer's Boutique too.

Found out from a Harley rider on another web site that he got around 40MPG on the road using a fuelpak. Don't think I want to loose that much.

YMMV. Did he tell you his cruising speed?? When I got the cop king I was getting 38-40MPG, then I added a breather, pipes and a SE race fueler, my MPG's went up to 42-44, but then when I raised my cruising speed from 70ish to 80+ mileage dropped down to around 40MPG.
I've had from a high of 47MPG down to 38MPG, a lot has to do with riding style. If you find the fuel pak is killing your mileage you can unplug it. But I really think adding a freeflow breather and modified pipes you are going to need to add a bit more fuel.
If you are going to stick with a stage 1, a fuel management device will work for you....but like said before if the performance bug is gonna bite a PCV or Mastertune would be a better option.

    Lucifer,
You're right about the riding style and MPG - same as in autos. I still would like to do an upgrade of some sort. What upgrade do you have and which bike are these numbers on?

It's an '03 Police Road King. I've got a SE breather, V&H Oval slip ons and the pot style SE Race Fueler. My best mileage was when I had to stay close to the speed limit.60-65MPH. With my lil sweetie on the back I try not to go over 75MPH.
You gotta think of what you want and is a stage 1 gonna be it or when the newness of that wears off and more torque is desired, whatcha gonna do, fuelers will work on a stage one and maybe even a bolt in cam like a TW21or 26, but with yours and the O2 sensors I would consider a PCV with auto tune or the Mastertune and then whatever upgrades you want those are a lot more flexable.
I'm going with a TW21 over the winter and will see if the fueler is enough or I just may go for a PCIII right away 'cause I know head work and a 95" kit is in the future, then it'll need more fine tuning than a fueler can deliver.
