    Thanks Lucifer that is valuable information. I knew what the VOES did but not how it worked or that it is adjustable. I'll be checking mine out just for the knowledge of doing it, and the telltale light thing is cool.

    Change the jets, if you have too much fuel
    more than the engine combo can handle
    it will bog...

    It's cheap, easy and will solve one
    issue, you've been told to check the carb
    diaphragm several times, have you done that?

    Take it one step at a time - get the carb right first before changing out the exhaust - otherwise your going to be chasing your your tail and never find out for sure if the problem is the carb or something else. :) Let us know how it works out - one thing we do do well around here is secondguess - but a few have got it down pretty good. Been there and done that type replys. :)

    It is an 88 inch motor.I went to a 195,48 main and pilot.I have a cvp needle and haven't installed it.Is it a better choice than the adjustable one that is currently in the carb? and it was a little better.Still is coughing out at the top end...Still too rich? Am I confusing a too rich condition with fuel starvation? Thought about changing to a manual petcock.What jets should I be running-in yiour opinions with the set-up I have? It runs better,but nowhere what it should be,IMO.

    "Rich"= Too much fuel
    "Lean"= Not enough fuel

    Here is another question. Have you notice your pipes turning blue really bad or do have heat shields on and have no idea??

    yes the cv needle is much better, sounds like you have the jetting right, that is the same as in both of my bikes. check for air restriction what kind of filter system are you running, is the filter clean? I've never hit the rev limiter in any gear on my 05, your past the power band by the time it gets thatfar anyway. neither of mine are flat they just keep pulling, but in 5th it takes a lot longer at 105 mph I start to let off.

    The pipes are a little blue.I have a thunderheader 2 into 1 on it and it is really blue at the collector.I hear they are bad about bluing anyhow?? I put a 190 main jet in,stayed with the 48 pilot,installed a new vacuum slide and the cvp needle.Is there supposed to be a rubber o-ring between the needle and the inside of the vacuum slide? It was raining so no test ride tonight.

    I was asking about bluing because that is usually a tell tale sign that the jetting is bad. I don't remember, did you fix the accel pump?

    how big is the o-ring?
    diameter , thickness of rubber? Maybe it was used as a shim on the needle? try the CV needle and see how it does.

    If it's a small O ring...check the accelerator pump housing...should be a little one in the pump housing bottom beside the diaphragm

    I think maybe it was a shim.The bike had an adjustable needle it it-clip in the 4th groove from top plus the washer was maybe .050 thick.I removed the o-ring shim and went to the CVP needle and am now running all CVP parts-jets,spring,emulsion tube.The bike seems the be a little more responsive and had more down low.Still not a race bagger,but much better,I think ,than it was before.

    I tried the cvp needle and got some pinging at the upper rpm range under a load---like going up hill or accelerating hard.

    What speed and what gear are you in when you get the pinging??If you have a tachometer, what RPM?? I usually don't shift to 5th on my '03 Cop King until 60-65 MPH...on mine 4th gear at 60MPH=approx 3100RPM.
