It would be much easier to lay a piece of cardboard under it
It has a rest chain, it is suppose to lub the chain

The rear chain is behind the inner primary cover. It's outside the primary, how does it get oiled? I'm confused.

on a stock machine there is a small tube that comes off the oil pump with a small knob on it. it has a tube to the rear chain.....and under perfect conditions it lets a drop of oil drip on the chain every so often. i screwed my knob in and plugged the line. put a bit of chain oil on it every once in a while..........worked for many thousands of miles.......

Chucktx posted how it got oiled
I wouldn't want to have to remember to oil my chain
Rode a shovel with a auto rear chain oiler for years
The oiler didn't bother me cause I knew why hD put it there

Clean it up real good with degresser, Put it on a table or lift and crank it.
Look at the starter, it might be coming out the starter.
Look at the inner primary and around the primary.
If its between the inner and outer primary, git a James Gasket.

Back in the old days we just didn't pay it any attention.

Just noticed it last week, seems to be toward the front, stator plug looks wet....that's what winters are for, no too concerned about it,the bike runs great and it's only a little drip after running a while...

maybe the shifter seal it seems that it happend after i service the trany with royal purple sythetic lube . sythetic oil seems to find the small orfice and run there . had a similar problem with a race motor i built did the rear main in this motor twice thought i might have pinch the seal going together. i put dino oil in it never had the pan off since ! some times this thing leaks more as temp goes up lord knows its been real hot and humid in southflorida the last few weeks .heat index was 103 last week. thats when synthtic works its way to the heat and lubes the best. maybe ill change back to dino and see what happens im just to lazy to work on it ! lol

The front of primary and block is a little wet...the drip comes off the cross member under the engine and it is primary fluid(I'm using Amsoil Super Shift ATF),it's red and so is the drip... seems to be blowing back from the front and collecting on the cross member...Evo and shovel leak through the stator plug,Twinkie may as well leak through there too,LOL...On the bright side, the top front of the inner primary is black again, instead of brown with mud and dirt:roflmao:

my buddy stator plug was also leaking. we took it apart and brake cleand every thing down . and resealed the stator with the silicone made by permatex called the wright stuff i use it in the shop to put motors together. it turn in to a very tough rtv sealant . that i have used in place of gaskets . it work great to fix it main thing is to get it greese free . it very similar to ultra gray from them but it a little thicker drying time is about 5 min to be tacked up . 24 full cure. sealed fine no need to replace it.

ps if you get the can . leve a small wick at the end of the tube if you wipe it clean . you migt as well toss the can in the trash that stuff seals so well you will never pick the dry piece out to get the can to flow.
