Ok, I got everything back together, cables adjusted right. (I think). Started the bike and it idled fine until I put the choke in and then it starts to sputter all over the place, black smoke out of the pipes, then quits....:witsend::wtf:

    Air mix screw is wrong...
Turn in gently, when it seats (lightly)
turn out 2.5 turns, then start, get warmed up.
Set Idle with throttle stop at 1500 rpm

Turn in screw until it starts to change from smooth to rough idle
then turn out, count turns, until you get it to start to blubber
on the way out, turn back 1/2 the turns and it's set.

Turn off, now turn in and count turns should be 2.5 turns

Actually no that is not what the problem was. I put the needle in wrong. I put it through the orange piece that the spring goes on instead of putting it in the slide then the orange piece through it...

    THANKS BP!!!

Time to take this thing out for a ride tomorrow after work and see how she runs..

    Good

But you still need to do the air mix screw procedure
it tells you if the pilot is lean or rich or right.

I am not going to mess with that just yet. I am going to see how this runs first, then I will tackle the low end. I most likely will not mess with it until the bassanni's arrive.

I think you got a demonstration on the effect the needle has:roflmao:

JB,do you have a Service manual and parts catalog?? They're the 2 best tools you could own...:)

Any more dyno runs to check your AFR planned??

Since you weren't overly lean in the top end...I think you're gonna be kinda fat all the way through now...

Once you take it for a run to test out your changes, why don't you play with your idle mixture when you get back,ya know practice practice practice:)

Good idea so when you ride it and it's not right how will you
    know what the issue was.

That's like having two flats on your car, airing one up only
and going for a drive to see if it holds air before you go
and spend the time to air up the other

it wasnt flat the tires swelled up on it . they was all the same , got up one morn and one swolled up :roflmao:. you should allways reset your af after jetting, that needle will now flow more fuel out of the main circuit after low speed transition , so you may not need it to be out as far jb . that transition aint much when your pulling cables ! reset your min af ratio !!!! of idle trasition will be diffrent now. you also have a stiffer spring now

I do have the SM but not the PM. I am going to put that V-Ductor in too but I am going to wait for the "planned dyno" run. I have it mapped out how I am going to go about doing this. Yeah I guess it was a lesson learned to make sure that I look at how I take something apart..:)

Why mess with my idle mix when it runs fine the way it is at idle?? All good things to those who wait..

Pick up a Parts Catalog....you'll use it as much as the Service Manual....large exploded diagrams...shows what goes where and in what order, nut and bolt sizes...Part Numbers...:D
