We have been here for two days now. So far it has not been very warm. Highs mid 70's lows around 50 degrees. Wind blew so hard today that we gave up riding at 1:00 PM. Gusts up to 40 mph.

Looking at the web cams the place looks almost deserted. Deadwood looks very quiet and lots of people with jackets on. Not like that when I was there last.

Yes, the winds yesterday were terrible, most of the bikes looked like they were ready to tip over going down the road, and the campers could only drive 55 it was so windy yesterday at 3 a clock in the afternoon it was 63 here and last night the owner of the campground told us it got down to 43, I think today it is suppose to be better, Chuck, I do have my camera but when it is this cold everybody pretty much keeps all there clothes on so nothing to take pictures of that I dont already have, what do you want pictures of?

I remember in 2004 I frooze every night. That was the first time I didn't bring a sleeping bag cause all the other times it was too hot.

Here is another web site that shows the cams on the highways and there are not many bikes coming ans going. But, it is only Saturday. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Our Sturgis trip ended with a bang today. My brother and I were riding on 85 from Deadwood to Newcastle and at the intersection of 85 and Spearfish Canyon road a guy on a bike pulled out in front on my brother and they crashed. Everyone ok but my brothers bike is a total wreck along with his face. So I will end up putting him on a bus for home tomorrow AM and ride home alone Monday.

Sorry to hear about that. Hope your bro's mug fairs out okay. Everybody figures it's the cager's out to get you, but a friends older brother lost his life to another biker (who also past away in the accident) in a head on. It was about 2 AM twenty years ago on a lonely stretch of HWY 21 here in Ontario. Both bikes entered a double 'S' section and collided at the apex. The police figured both bikes crossed the center line & going at a high rate of speed. Naturally there were no witnesses, so it was purely speculation. The accident wasn't discovered until light & unfortunately both riders had already past. Truly the weirdest wreck I've ever heard of with two riders. A real bad case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time...

Yeah, I'm sorry to hear that too. I'm not surprised that it doesn't happen more often. There are a lotta knuckle heads out there, most are pretty good and safe, it's just the few that F it up for others.

    stay safe.

We just got home from Sturgis!! We had a safe trip, Was very windy on the way up form Lusk to Mule Creek Junction, we then turned east and went into Custer and on in to Rapid City.
This was my friends 1st trip, they had a blast, so did I.
We demo tested 4 different models each. Looks like my next purchase will be a EG Classic. We flogged them hard on the test ride. Didn't ride a VRod. They went with you on that demo ride.
The weather was great while we were there, around 80 but seemed warmer. Coming home today was hot & cold and rained for about 10 miles. Made it home in 7 1/2 hours counting a lunch break in Cheyenne.
At times it seemed like it was busy then other times not. I think attendance was down and people were staying a shorter length of time. Everything is just so expensive.
We are planning on going next year and plan to stay about 4 or 5 days. A bike talk get together would be cool.

My brother and I both got home . He is doing well physicaly but still pretty bummed about having to leave his bike there. Sounds like it may be totaled .
he is trying to find out how to fight the careless driving ticket he got for hitting the guy that pulled out in front of him. His insurance agent told him that was has bad as a DUI for raising his rates. So he may go back for a court appearance.
