I was right behind him and saw everything. I told the Deputy I was his brother and I was behind him and saw it. Then I got busy picking up his stuff laying all over due to the tour pack coming open then helping the tow truck driver loading up the bike and thru all of this the Deputy never came over to take an official statement . He finally came over to us when by brother got out of the ambulance and wanted to talk to him .Went over to the squad car and got in . I did not know that my brother got the ticket until later and by then the Deputy was gone.

careless driving? ..damn, get a lawyer and plea it down. I'm not going to get the soap box about the lack of skilled riders at the rally but I've seen some scary riding in the Spearfish Canyon. I don't ride much at night there anymore. I thought that for the most part every one rode quite civilized there this year..more room on the road. Harley's display in the parking lot of the convention centre instead of being inside was different. ..didn't demo any bikes..didn't see any screaming deals on bikes..didn't see a lot of custom bikes on the road..didn't see as many trailers and motor homes...saw LOTS more touring bikes out there....got a bit of a different vibe from Sturgis this year.

Looked like an older crowd in general than I have seen before, I thought there were lots more baggers too. It was relatively easy to get in and out of downtown Sturgis too. We were at the Full Throttle about 2:00 PM last Saturday and I bet there wasn't even 100 people there.

My brother got ahold of the State attorny office in SD and they started to look into it. Turns out the only people the Deputy got a statement from was the two people on the bike that pulled out in front of us. after the accident I talked to them and they did not have a clue that they had pulled out in front of a pack of motorcycles. so that was not a good investigative job done by that deputy. Sounds like there is a good chance it will be thrown out.

It rained alot of the way home, I seen a couple of vehicles on I 90, that the windshields were just about broken through all spiderwebbed and the hoods were just as messed up, supposedly yesterday south of Sturgis a few miles had baseball size hail, we never had any at Hill City thank god, I think that kind of hail could kill a person especially since alot of people live in there tent

I use them all the time, actually I usually put my heel on the floorboards and put my toes on the part where your heel is supposed to go,(the stirrup) that is about the most comfortable position for me anyway

I remember one time in Sturgis when they had some really bad stormy weather. Large hail like that and riders were stopping along side the roads and taking refuge under there bikes to avoid the large hail coming down. A few bikes got dented that year.

Well we hooked up with the prosecuting attorny and after my brother and I told our story and showed them pictures they agreed to drop the careless driving ticket. Now he will be able to buy another bike and afford insurance.

I have never heard my brother sound so happy about anything like he was the day that was dropped. The group that was with the guy that pulled out in front of him helped alot .Everyone of them the attorny called gave her a completely different story. One of them tried to tell the attorny that my brother hit him at 60 mph. I told the attorny if he would have hit them at 60mph there would have been a lot more damage on their bike than a broken saddlebag. Then I sent her all of my pictures I took and 2 hrs later she called my brother and dropped it.
