Rubbing alcohol is usually made from 70% isopropyl alcohol and 30% water. However, the alcohol is miscible in water meaning that it will completely mix with it. So the water will not separate from it which is also why it sort of encapsulates water. You will notice if you use it in the open to clean something that it will very quickly evaporate and not leave behind a residue or layer of water although it will evaporate slightly slower than say 100% isopropyl alcohol.

Pour it in a wound however, and it will produce plenty of water, in the form of tears. DOH!

hey max, your $20 dollar word " miscible " is a whole lot better than my 50 cent word "encapsulate"....................and easier to spell to boot!!!!:)

Well when you figure in depreciation, inflation, etc. it's really only worth about $1.00.:D

I work with some chemist and research types. Every once in a while something seeps past my thick scull into my brain. And once in a GREAT while it actually stays there.
