Most all well made 1911 Style pistols are going to cost you MORE>
    I would choose a 45 over a 40. Pistol shoots better.

These are the two guns that I think that I am torn between Price has nothing to do with my decision on this....

I had shot the 1911 and I like it a lot. I am torn if I want a single/double action or if I just want a double...

I like the Springfield better than the Bersa. One thing about the Ruger is its made here in the USA. Springfield does not make any of their guns.

But if that's what you want then go out and flip out the credit card and do it. :D

I have this nagging feeling that I will most likely go with the 1911. He is asking $740 used for that piece. It has been there for a little while now so I do think that I have a good chance at being able to get it. this 1911 is the Champion model which from my understanding is the LEO edition. the particular one that I fired did come from an LEO...

So what are you waiting for. If its gone you may not find another one at that price. I bought my Sig ultra compact 1911 used and paid a little more than that. My sig is in 45 cal but have not seen a used one sense.

That only applies if you carry does not keep you from purchasing the gun and keeping it in your home.

Get the Springfield 1911 its what you want anyway. The Bersa has a long reach for the finger in DA.

I know... the interesting part is that Minnesota makes no distinction between open carry or conceal carry. When I get a permit for carry, I can either open carry or conceal carry. This possibly changes what gun I buy.....

So in the meantime that 1911 could get sold. From what I understand from your state you can fill out the permit to purchase at the gun shop and that would put a hold on it. Sure glad I live in Oregon, don't think I would care for all that run around. Besides it won't stop a criminal.

Have to agree, right now a lot of things are selling
fast, however most are large capacity guns like Glock 17
    with 10+ rounds.

I'd offer him $600 and meet in the middle, ask him what
he's willing to take for it, that you'll do it right now and
get it if it's what you want, it's a nice gun...

Generally dealers offer and pay about half what the guns
worth at trade in, so if its not on consignment he's got
more profit and wiggle room in a used gun, if he sticks at
$740 be prepared to walk, or, get a holster and a couple
of mags, You should have no less than 5 mags per gun JMO

    This weekend.
Got a buddy that told me Friday nite he was going to a gun show in loisiana.
I said go a hour early. He did. he said he got in and couldn't look at hardly anything. The place was packed. You couldn't even get to some of the tables there was so many folks. you couldn't git up and down the isles.
He freaked out. He got some of the vendors cards that was locally with a certain distance to go see.

Got another buddy that went to the Gun show in B'ham, Ala.
He said he went in the morning before they opened. The place was already packed. He said they was letting 3000 people in at a time. He didn't get in till the afternoon. He had been there so long they let him in for free.
They had more people than they could ever imagine.
He said everybody was buying anything with a trigger.
He looked and looked and couldn't find anything he wanted.
He has bought 4 or more pistols lately and his OL bought him a Sig 40 for Christmas.

I haven't been able to get out and buy a piece just yet as it has been really cold out and I wanted to go a test shoot at an outdoor range before I purchased. I had a good friend that was trying to sell me his Baby Eagle for the Suzuki. I said no sale but if he were to include his AR-15 in the deal, I just may have to say goodbye to the Suzuki. Well, at the last minute he decided that he wanted to keep both. Oh Well, no worries for me I guess. The weather here has finally gotten warmer. We now have broke into the low thirties so hopefully soon I will be able to get out a squeeze off a few rounds. :D

Shot the XDM 3.8 40C and CB is right that is a fine shooting and accurate pistol. Holds very well, good trigger and great stock sights. :)
