I actually really like the XD line up, they make some pretty nice pistols. Just like my standard XD 40 that I bought a long time ago and now the XDS 45 that I have. Both very well made. Just seems there quality is top of the line.

I have a friend that is offering it for sale. What would you say that fair market value for that piece is? I agree, I think that I would rather have a .45 but I will consider this one if it is a good deal...

Question should be 1.How do you intend to use it? 2.Do you just love it anyway?. Guns are fun. If it just pleases you,buy it. Look up on internet what a new one costs, adjust your offer for condition of weapon.

Yep, what Charlie said. Do a search online for them for price. Gunbroker.com and others are a good place to start.

I went to my friends and I took a look at the piece and I will have to say that overall I was really impressed with the p89DAO. This was like a brand new gun that has never been fired. Tight action, no dings, two 10 round mags, a case, a trigger lock and a lock for the case. Had a different grip on it which I did not like at all so I changed to the factory grips and it was much better. Wednesday him and I are going to go the range and fire it. It still had the original sale receipt in the case and it was originally sold in 1995 for $310 and he is trying to get $450. Very nice firearm though. The things that I did not like about it is that there were no safeties at all on this gun other than that it is a DA. I am thinking pretty hard about this though.

For 450 I would get the new Ruger 45 Auto. The P97 great pistol.

I would go walk into the store and buy the weapon that I liked the most.

LOL, you should have seen the look on his face when I showed him the sales receipt, he didn't look impressed. I guess I will just have some fun firing it along with the Baby Eagle 45 that we are bringing out. If he will come down to reality with the price on this 9 and I like how it shoots, I just may pick it up.

This is the Ruger you should be looking at. There selling in the gun shops 419-459. Did you ask him why he is selling it. Bet he wants a more compact 9mm

He doesn't really like 9mm's. He told me flat out that he bought this gun (P89DAO) with the specific intent to resell. I really am not all that interested in this gun all that much due to fact that it has no external safeties. However, if I can get it for a better price than what he is offering, I would try to flip it myself. I am way more interested in that Baby Eagle that we are going to bringing out to shoot as well.

That's a pretty large pistol for being called Baby.

Check this out has all the features your looking for and in a shorter barrel length.

JB you really havent said what your purpose is
with the gun, carry, home defense, range,

All those need to be considered, I'd keep a full size 1911
on the bedside or my P226 but for carry a P239 or my Commander
    sized 1911.

Weight is the enemy on a carry and the rule is if you
leave it home because you don't like the way it fits
or feels, it's not a good buy.

My suggestion would be to get a Glock 19
    you won't be sorry.

No safety and to big for carry. For carry I am very happy with my M&P Shield. Super nice shooter. For home defense my Ruger 1911 and my Cammander size Sig 1911 are great and both are in 45 cal.

safety is the trigger, glock has internal safety
on the trigger you don't need an external safety,
if you like that, fine, there are guns with them..

Problem is ol JB is looking at larger guns
hasn't stated what he wants it for yet
19 is not hard to carry, a 26 easier,

19 is one of the most popular 9's easy
to shoot holds lots of bullets, put a spot on
its rail, good home defense gun..

Not expensive, goes bang every time.
