    Re: That sure hurt.--- Update

Had a friend come up from OC a couple days ago and go with me to pick up my bike so he could ride it home.
The guy at the storage shop took a piece of pipe and a block of wood to the shift lever and bent it straight.
almost looks like new. One worry of my mind having my bike here where I can see it.
Got the estimate for damage from the other guys insurance and they say $500. I don't see it but I'll take the money.
On another front, I received a copy of the investigators report of the accident and the other guy told him he crossed the center lie on the curve and collided with me. His insurance was trying to claim I was riding the center line so was mutually at fault. There was also some physical evidence at the scene that indicated the collision took place well into my lane.
Unfortunately the other guy only has minimum coverage on his bike so I'll be lucky if my under-insured coverage doesn't have to pick up the balance of my medical expense.
Amazingly the collision report puts the age of the other guy at 75 years. With the injury he suffered to his leg/foot I truly doubt he'll ever ride again.
I go to see the surgeon that treated us both today to get the stitches under my toes removed today so maybe I can get some idea of how he is doing.

    1) Hire and attorney
    2) Hire a damn good mean attorney

Get all you can from his medical
and get all you can from yours

YOu never know how much after medical conditions you'll
have to deal with as a result 2, 5 10 years down the road.

Back from the vet. He removed part of my stitches but the two between my toes will have to wait two more weeks. Other than that he said all is doing well.
Asked him if he was still treating the guy that hit me.
He told me that the guy is doing fine even though he's in a convalescent care facility. He has an external appliance on to apply traction but in a couple of weeks will have some pins put in. The surgeon said that he will probably make a full recovery and be able to get back out and ride. Amazing for a 75 year old.
Even though I was not responsible for his injury, this is a relief to know. I've dealt with having to give up riding myself (mistakenly, thank the gods of rolling thunder) and can tell you it makes for a bleak looking future.

Yeah, I just hope he's learned something from this.
He never took his eyes off me as he came into the curve and your bike goes where you are looking.
I also hope he learns to wear proper footwear when riding.
They say with age comes wisdom but cross trainers on a motorcycle are just stupid.
I won't even allow my passengers to ride without proper foot wear.

    Re: That sure hurt. Update

I'm walking again at last. I still have a couple of scabbed over wounds that need to heal before I can wear my boots so I can ride again.
Just started P-T so I should be just fine next week.

It's been neglected for this past month I'm afraid. I've purchased a few new goodies for it hoping to be able to get then put on before long.
I need to move it out of it's parking hole and into the carport where I can work on it.
Lawyers Stupid secretary sent my damage repair check to an old address (took it off the accident report instead of from the case file) where theft of mail is the norm, so I'll not get that for another month while the issuing insurance company cancels it and reissues a new one.
