I don't think I've seen any thread that didn't get side tracked once in awhile but they always seem to get back on track. Makes for some interesting conversations.
But for the 2011 season. sometimes I like to kinda shoot from the hip so to say and do some things on the whim.

I am still hoping to ride for at least 2-3 more weeks. Unless they put salt and sand on the roads then I am done.

Oh, I figure I have about +/-3 weeks before the Sportster goes into storage, and I intend to make the most of it. I did have to get the heavy jacket out of the mothballs this week. I'd rather just wear a jean jacket.

I'm tethered at home. My boss is a real jerk, and he sometimes has me working until 2:00AM. What a bozo, I want to ride, and he wants quality work to go out no matter how I feel about it. What a clown.

    Oh, did I mention I was self-employed.

Besides, I'm the kind of guy that really smiles thinking about future jaunts.

Edit: Here's where I want to be:

That's one of the big problems for me when planning on any trip for 2011 right now. I'm also self employed. Seems like every time we try to set plans for even a weekend jaunt the phone rings and I got another job to do. Not complaining about the work but would really like a vacation sometime where the phone don't ring, yea dream on I know that won't happen. :banghead:

Oh, I agree. But I did get a new cell phone with better filters and caller-ID. Plus I'm getting to the point that I shut my phone 'off' when I ride. Granted, most times it rings due to a hungry wife. However, have you ever talked to an unhappy chef? It's like dealing with a toddler and a broken toy.

Ahhh, but 2011 has no clients, and it's truly the undiscovered country.

I'm going to semi retire in 2011, just hope I have the funds to go where we want. Besides I am really tired of crawling under house, it get really old and every time I do it I'm always saying to myself, I got to do something different.
I would really like to go to New Mexico but need at least 2-3 weeks to do it properly.

I had a lot of engine work done, but the real benefit was replacing the Sportster front end with one from a CVO Dyna. I switched to a 21-inch wheel and progressive shocks (not shown in those pictures.)

I believe that the suspension is probably more important than just a 'go fast' engine.

Glad you said that. I was wondering the same thing. To be fair, several of my friends have snowbird places there. My brother packed up and moved to the gulf side of Florida.

Been to all the other Western States except New Mexico. Have no interest in the Midwest or especially East coast:puke: Wife just got back from a trip to the New England states and said she would not want to go back. Said that she would never want to go back to Boston.
Montana is always a great place to ride in as is Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah and Washington but been to everyplace in Oregon. You can't go wrong in 2011 if you ride in the western states. Now southern Calif. I'd rather not to crowded.

That’s true about beautiful country. And beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Here’s a pic of the area down close to where my next job is. It’s a hell hole!

Yea, Southeast New Mexico down in the oil field country. I’m going down to Eunice to help build a Uranium Enrichment Facility. Make some high octane nuclear fuel!
