When we were traveling back east I rode the Limited and pulled this trailer. Never had an issue with the Dunlop tires on the bike. We had temps in the 100 plus and hi humidity. Both the bike and the trailer tires did great. 8000 miles that trip and Dunlop tires on the bike. Mileage always suffers anytime your pulling a trailer, but was sure easier to pack stuff and the tent.

I've ran the E3's on the King,I liked them, got good mileage outta them and found them pretty good in rain...I now have a set of Michelin Commander II's on and find them similiar to the E3's,but my riding got cut short last season so I didn't get much rain riding in to compare to the E3's that way,but they're a good tire...Avon Cobra's are probably what I'm going to try next because I hear they are a good tire...good grip and good in rain just a little softer than the E3's and Michelins so probably won't get quite as much mileage outta them, but that's a trade off for grip...Avon Venoms are a good sticky tire, but mileage will drop off again....

That's right - can't have both. I don't see how any tires last past a few thousand with all the stuff some of you guys carry, plus a passenger, and trailers, too?

So the commanderII is a hard tire like the E3's. If so, what is your opinion about Commander II on rear with E3 on front??

On the new bikes with the Dunlop 180 rear tire
It's easy o git 11,000 put of the back tire nd more out of the front
If you don't do power take offs

I get the American Elites for my 09 Street Glide. Same construction as the stock Screeming Eagles with slightly different tread pattern from Dennis Kirk. Save much dinero. And I get 18-19K miles out of them. Just turned 65Kmi and just put on my 2nd pair.

My buddy down the street got the American Elite
He didn't git as good of milage as the stock tires
He went to Michlein commander 2 's and he is trying them out, he weighs like 270 lbs and he's 6'4"
He rides a 11road glide ultra and is a aggressive rider at 59.

When I have a HD dealer I can go to and they will take my stock back tire off my bike and mount a new tire just like it for 228.00 plus tax
I can not fight that price
They are the only people offering that price too

That is a FN great price!!! My last rear tire for my fatboy cost me $500 that was rear Dunlop d401 and rear brake pads. I almost got arrested. That's what I got for supporting my local Indy. Never again.

The only difference between the American Elite and the HD tire is the brand HD isn't on the side, it's the exact same compound tire.

The New Dunlop for the 09 and up HD's has a hard center compound and
a softer edge for cornering grip, I got 19K out of my last one....

That's about what I paid for both front and rear tires from my HD dealer for the new HD bikes and that was installed.

Yeah,I found them similar...kinda hard to remember what one new tire felt like then what the next new tire felt like a year later...what I do remember is the E3's were a sonna bitch to mount...sidewall was very stiff,Commander II's not as hard to mount...

The only tire mixing I won't do is radial and bias ply....so if you have the bias ply E3 on the front I'd have no problem running a bias ply Commander on the rear or vise-versa... I have usually a 2:1 ratio of rear tires to front and I'm not gonna change a good tire on the front just because the rear is worn out and I'm changing brands...been doing it for a lotta years and haven't had a problem...

I got new American Elites last Sept. from my Indy, 180/65 for 235.95 and the 130/80 for 176.95 and got charged 1 hour of labor and that included an oil change also. I really like the tires, they handle great and are wearing fine.

Nope didn't run mine to the cords, it just got to the point it needed replaced
I could probably have gone another 1000 but it was time.

Front wore at the same pace so you end up buying two at a time now.

If you ride hard 16-17k is great. try getting that much from other tires. Also tread pattern is a little different on Amer.Elites.

Well I think I've made my decision. I'm going to stick my E3's until I need to buy both front and rear. Don't feel totally confident in mix matching. Then I will go probably go with the Commander II's.
