it is a hand file. You hold it in one hand, then turn the crank with the other....

    They Have Arrived!!!

Tools are starting to trickle in.. Next item that is being ordered are the pistons. I got a really good deal from CP. Ring compressor will follow, then an intake wrench, then a new torque wrench, then cam bearing installer/remover. Ahhh, just too much fun. :D

Today I began to break down the Glide. All went well, finding my way around the bike, not using the SM that much until I came to tank removal. I noticed that there was no real way to take the tank off when there is gas in it because of the cross over line. Well, as I was then reading the SM, I notice that I havce to use a Mity Vac to siphon the gas out of the tank. I went to 4 different stores before I found the right tool. None of them had it!!!!!!!!:gah::gah::rant:

Once I get a Pingle fuel valve, one that is gravity fed I am sure that my job will be a lot easier in the future. Draining the tank doesn't bother me, although as of right now I am annoyed that I had to spend the money to get the Mity Vac. OH well, good tool to have around anyways.. :D

Heater, you need no stinking heater. Carhartts and gloves is all I used and I lived in WI over 3 winters.

You dint need to drain tank

Remove clip from one side of crossover leaving hose on tank

Remove mounting hardware and shut of petcock remove fuel line and vac line from petcock

    Disconnect fuel gauge wire connector

Now you have a few options

have someone pop off fuel line and put finger over tank exit on crossover or slip on a rubber cap from auto parts store put a golf tee or some other plug in hose Remove tank or

Have two four foot pieces of fuel line on one put in a male to make connector.
Remove crossover plug tank outlet connect male to make end if hose to hose let drain into approved container

While that's draining remove cap and put other hose on. Drain that side

    Remove tank or.

Disconnect all bits. Have he pull off crossover. Light tank tilting frint up quickly. Gas runs to back. No she will have gas on hands and be cussing you

You immediately yell at her to stop bitching and put hose back in crossover now that tank has cleared frame. She will butch no effin way. You will scream I need help. She will help and stomp off bitching about gas on her.

I siphoned the gas out of the top. Hey, my truck needed some gas in it so that is where it went. Worked just fine after it was suggested to pinch off one side of the crossover. Thanks BP.

Tain't civilized wit no heat. You must be related to Nanook of the North LOL.

Johnny, I am getting ready to put the jugs on over my pistons. It's a 2 man operation, at least in my case - pistons are attached to the rods which are attached to the crank with block still in the frame . . .
