Thanks guys, every single person who enjoys my music is important to me, that connection with people is everything. I will continue with follow up doctor visits until I feel I know what exactly has happened. Right now, I'm still limping and have a lump the size of a grapefruit on my hip and no pain killer seems to work for more than an hour.

Make sure you get some restitution for your pain and suffering, don't give em a inch or they'll take a mile.

an hour isn't much pain relief. sounds like your're getting screwed on your pain meds. when it comes to pain and suffering it looks better if your're taking narcotic level pain meds. plus you'll recover faster. narcotics are great drugs so long as u don't act like a fool with them:devil:

I was listening to Martin's music and was wondering if this forum could link to some of his songs so we could listen to music while reading and typing on Bike Talk. Or maybe Bike Talk needs a theme song, like "The Kindness of Strangers".

    Hope you heal fast Martin.
    Good luck,
    Tom

I went to a physical therapist and still need appointments with specialists to look at the more serious injuries, chest x-ray for probable crib fracture and hip swelling. I had a broken hip in 1996 and they put three rods in my leg. The accident caused me to land right on that formerly broken femur and now it looks like it's been moved out of place. Staying "on the case" isn't easy and you guys are helping to inspire me to stay with it and get serious about the medical side and the eventual lawsuit, thanks.

Hey, I'd be glad to donate the use of my song for Bike Talk. I'd vote for "When Lovers Talk." It has a rockin, "road song" kind of vibe. First lines go:
" I can feel the rising wind, when you touch my eyes again.
I can hear the mysteries call, when you turn around and walk to me'"

Get yourself fixed up good and make sure you and your bike are 100% ok before you let the "hack" [taxi driver] off the hook. I'm glad you're not too terribly banged up. I've wrecked before..not a lot of fun. Take your time on the recovery and do it right. I've not been in NYC too many times but i'll give you a story from 35 years ago. I lived in Montreal then ..rode a bike there..wrecked there but the taxi drivers were nuts..just crazy [ my dad drove taxi for a bit there..] My good friend had a hate on for Montreal Taxi drivers..cussed 'em all the time. his dad owned a tow truck company that had the towing contract with the Montreal mercedes-benz dealer. someone had a Benz break in downtown NYC and we drove down from Montreal to pick this car up and tow it back. When we picked the sick car up in NYC..downtown someplace..can't remember..lots of taxis though. My friend said ,after being cut off a million times by a million yellow taxis..[no relation to joni mitchell's cab] If we get this car out of New York in one piece I'll never curse a Montreal Taxi driver ever again..we got the big benz outta town..and he was true to his word...NYC Cabbies are a special breed.
I'm not telling you something you don't know.
I clicked the link you left for Flht, to your home page and listened to some of your music....you have a gift and I'm glad you're sharing it. Going down last hits home for me..I'm burying too many friends..buried too many family..too soon.......heal well

If insurance company totals your bike, in Illinois you get a rebuilt title that means your bike is worth maybe 1/3 of the actual book price if you were to fix it. I don't know how it works in New York, you could ask your insurance agent. If its a bike you planned on having for a very long time it may be in your best interest to buy it back, if you ever thought about selling or trading in with a re-built title it is'nt worth it.

Thanks for that info 72fl, I'll check into that. HRK, you're right, the original New York Cabbie was an ambassador to the city, knew all the streets, all the nightspots, great places to eat and drove safely, because he had a family to take care of. Now it's a pit stop after a green card. No offense to those just getting started here in the USA, it's just that I think the city should have kept standards for driving taxi's much higher. In London, a driver must study for six months ( or more, I'm not sure) , know EVERY street, and pass stringent tests. Once he's or she's passed, they get paid decently and do a great job. It's just the typical corrupt forces that made it the way it is now. Some fleet owner makes 10 million a year, while the driver struggles for $100 a day.

*Sleepy, I can't wait to do a full production of "Goin' Down Last", every person mentioned in the song was a real friend who died tragically, but I endeavored to make the song defiant and hopeful.

How's it going with the Doc's so far ? PS don't let the Insurence tell dong about your previous leg injury , cause it nevered bother you till the cabbie made you wreck & that's how you tell them
