To start with “Love the MUSIC”
When it comes to doctors and hospitals, if what they say don’t feel right then get a second opinion. I wrecked my scoot on March, 28 and was taken to a local hospital. I knew my foot was crushed and that my back hurt terribly. I was told that they would need to do surgery on my foot and that the X-Ray’s showed nothing wrong with my back. When I told them that I thought that I would like to go to Lubbock for a second opinion they had me dismissed and out the front door in less than an hour, sort of like “fine then, get the hell out. (Lubbock TX is about 100 miles from home and has exceptional hospitals). The next day I asked the Lubbock foot surgeon could he look at the back X-Rays I had brought and see if he could see a problem with my back. He returned and said that my foot could wait because my back was broke! They called the emergency room and the Back specialist and let them know I was on the way. Good Doctors make things happen and just because someone said it don’t make it true. You have to watch out for yourself.

RaKs, are you OK now? A broken back sounds terrible. Hope your healed and well. One good thing about NYC is that the doctors here are generally top notch. I'm going to see specialists for a second opinion as suggested. There's still a lump on my hip the size of an small orange.

I'm late on this thread - glad you weren't hurt really bad, Hellboy, as obviously you could have been.

I'll throw in a suggestion to find a good Chiropractor for the long term & I'll tell you why - I've got a ruptured L4 / L5 disc in my back from a 1988 injury, the L3 / L4 herniated & was ready to go & I've got no cartilege in my left knee from 2 older injuries. MD's said I could never do things again such as ride a motorcycle, climb ladders, etc., but I still do. And I haven't even taken any Rx medication since 1991, let alone concern myself with the recommended back surgeries, which thank God I never had.

When I first saw my Chiro here, my spine was in an S shape, I limped noticeably with my left foot turned out & carried my head tilted off to the left. Long story short, if you were to see me walking any time in the last 12 years, you'd never guess I ever had an injury in my life & I'm in better shape now than I was 20 years ago. Only thing is that you may have to see 10 Chiropractors to find a good one, as so many treat the symptoms rather than the cause of the problem(s). My guy deals with the cause(s) & all I've done for years is simple exercises which are good for you even if you've never been injured.

Not healed yet. Just had the wreck 2 weeks ago on March 28, 2010. Had foot surgery on last Monday (April 5). Spend most of my time starring at the ceiling, except Saturday when my wife and friends took my scooter and myself to the Harley shop for an estimate. Really enjoyed getting out of the house but not sure it was worth it. There are some pic’s on the thread “Thank God for Cows”. http://bike-talk.com/forum/pull-up-chair-sit-spell/10911-thank-god-cows.html

    Again loved the music!

Is going through CD Baby the easiest (or best) way to get the CD “ Watching the Days Fall”

Sorry to hear of the accident. Hope you recover well and fast.
Play it tough with the insurance company, especially on the injury side. My experience is they will drag it out till you have Drs., hospital and anyone else involved billing you and buggin you for payment. Being a good guy your gonna want to pay your bills and get it over with, but don't let 'em push you. Get a lawyer if you have to. My back has never been the same since I had a crash back in the 90s. Guess who's payin the chiropractor bills these days. Yeah, that'd be me.

Art, good to hear from you. I've had mixed experience with chiropractors. Some string you along, doing little but telling you to come every week, and some can really help you heal. I'll keep your story in mind, thanks.

RaKs, first, get well soon my friend. CD Baby should be quick and easy. If you prefer, you can get the album as a download from iTunes, but I prefer CD's when I can get them. If there's any trouble at all, just let me know and I'll send you a CD myself.

Cowboy, thanks for the reminders regarding staying on top of the situation here, it rally does help. Focusing on lawsuits, estimates and injuries isn't easy when you still gotta take care of business. I have a law firm that specializes in motorcycle cases. They ride through the Woodstock Harley dealership as HOG members and have offices here in NYC. I feel I they'll do all that can be done for me. Still, it's gonna be a while before this is all settled. Dealing with the Taxi insurers is notoriously difficult and long term.

RaKs.....hope you're healing well . I'll put in a good word for CD Baby....had great luck with them in the past and got some really good music ..looks like some more shopping for me. Hellboy, good wishes for you in getting yourself straightened away. Big companies can be a bitch to get money out of. I had a city of Montreal bus hit my car a bunch of years ago and it took some time to collect. I'm looking forward to hearing your production version of "going down last" but from this lunchpail guy's point of view I'll tell you I what liked about your demo version. Life ain't easy and life ain't fair and there's a story to be told and you're telling it... as it is ...no sugarcoating it, sometimes less is more. I loved the message and the delivery was pure. That's where I'm at.

Me too, but not since 1998. The guy I've seen since was an X-Ray technician while going to college & does his own in-house. He explains what the cause of the problem is, what he's going to do about it, what you need to do yourself & gives you a flat price for the treatment. Whole different ballgame from those who just treat the symptoms & you have to keep going back because the root cause of the problem is still there. In my case, the ruptured disc always will be, but since the vertebrae are lined up properly & there's no pressure on the discs anymore, the symptoms are gone & have been for years.

That's good. I do a lot of "paralegal" work, my Dad was an attorney & I can sure tell you there's too much to know to try to cover every legal issue. Someone who specializes in a given area will do a much better job for you & that includes those who are good in the courtroom vs. those who are good @ getting a fair settlement without going to court.

Heard from the insurance adjuster. he sent his man to see my bike again, because HD had claimed something he didn't see when inspecting. Once there, he actually found more issues he'd missed (HD missed as well). So, they're going to total the bike. Don't know how to take it, since it is what it is. On one hand, if I bought a new bike or the same bike used, I'd have to put a lot of time and money to get it to the level it was at, with all the replacement part upgrades. V&H pipes, Carlini bars with internal wiring, assorted Arlen Ness and Drag Specialties parts. Kuryakin engine lighting. It would probably cost 6-8K to do it all again. They're going to offer 11.5 K for it. It's a 2007 HD Street Bob. The Blue Book is 11K,but I did have 2-3 K insurance for the after market parts.
Well, I have a ways to go with my injuries and won't be able to ride for a quite a while and it will be some time before my lawsuit is in the courts, so I'll have to be glad my injuries weren't much worse. Still, it's not easy to hear a bike coming from down the road a bit, because it makes me turn my head and want to get on my bike and ride, every time ...
