Bugs are wonderful. I can just about tell you what part of my area we are riding in just from what bugs are on the menu. Don't know about cleaning them off, never really take the time to clean. Gots to love Rat Bikes LOL. With my bike the cleanest part is the last one worked on besides the seat. Maybe someday when I get old and rich I will buy me one of them purdy ones and keep it clean. :D

LOL yeah there are times I simply rinse the bike off, but, in the long run, with a 10 year old high performance softail, washing it is a part maintenance ritual, I can find parts that are loose, broken, in need of repair or replacement, leaks, etc.

Buddy has a 98 RK and does the same, we do like them clean, but, it's also a mechanical reason.

Plus, would you rather be at work or laying on the sofa or in your garage with a stogie, beer, UFC on the tv and doing a little work on the bike even though it's not wrenching

I save mine for evenings and rainy weekends. LOL

LOL you won't find me on the couch since buying the bike. If I have down time the bike don't LOL. I agree though that spending time with the bike is the best.

I run mine threw the car wash once a month whether it needs it or not. I had me some dealings with them lovebugs out of Austin a couple years ago, we had to stop every 20 miles and scrape off our windshields just to see where the He$$ we were going. When we got to Seguine there was not one part of me or the bike that wasn't covered in BUG GUTS nasty'ist ride I've ever been on.

    I HATE LOVE BUGS

Not from Texas or have seen the love bugs, but from the Picture they appear to be a box elder bug or in the box elder family. Infest male box elder trees.

One note....the bugs are double headed and have no ass so they they cant take a dump or know where their going or mate and head wants to fight the other all the time. So this is what makes this type of bug so damed mean!!!! Your lucky you hit them and killed them on the bikes!!!......lol..lol....Whampus Bugs!!!! You all know I would never BS ya!!!!

Yeah they are all over came from South America (illegally of course) and entered via Texas and LA on fruit shipments.

Vehicles carried them all over the SE and of course surviving in wet swampy humid conditions FL is prime.

Take a ride over to the Cape on 50 out of WhorLando, Once you clear Christmas FL the bugfestification begins as it's open swamp.

I went across a bridge on a lake three times in a row to help a friend get a hat (leather nice hat) that blew off (damn thing never flys off his head)

I couldnt' see through the shield on the way home.

They die, bake and the chemical reaction wll peel clear coat off your car/bike. truck etc.

You have to get them off that day, nasty suckers...
