Didn't mean to get anyone boiling, but that is the way life in this country is now-a-days. Just like someone here's tag sez "Freedom isn't free". Or was that Janis Joplin?

Cardboard, I didn't mean to upset you over this topic, but you wanted to bring up all the wrongs done to you that have nothing to do with this forum. I'm sorry about your situation with the changing regulations, but don't be mad at me--I didn't make em nor do I condone them.

I got my chops busted many times over the 40 years of working for companies that were hammered by gov't regs, then they hammered me. I like things simple and always tried to work with the K.I.S.S. principle: Keep It Simple Stupid! But we are dinosaurs now and the big companies want whizz kids to solve all the problems with magic solutions that don't cost any money.

I believe in refining something until it works good and lasts a lot longer than it's supposed to. This thinking always costs more money and gives headaches to the accountants. Do you see the problem?

Somethings they do are great. Like I-phone, I-pad, etc. although I won't own any of that crap.

In OUR world, you have every other m/c manufacturer (not H-D) building bikes that TRY to complicate them with what I call "techno-clutter". They purposely make them look more complicated because that's what impresses the young-uns today. H-D goes way out of their way to make bikes look cleaner and simpler.

Look at BMW boxers. They used to be the simplest and most reliable designs in the world. Kids today don't care about that--they want flash and visual wizardry to WOW!their friends. Today, BMW's are techno-crap built for yuppies and geeks that break easily and need an engineer to repair them. Japanese makers are hot to copy this trend.

There. Now you know where I stand on most new stuff.

I got a Iphone like 3 yrs ago. It was super easy to use and learn. 2 yrs ago. I upgraded and took my wifes sim card out of her phone and put it in my Old phone. She screamed for about 2 days.
She took to it like a Dog takin to water. Now if you try to jack with her Iphone she will be on you. She has incorporated it into her work.
She has two different alarms set on it. She has all her names, addresses, email address and phone numbers on it. And has them backed up to the computer.
She used the camera and the movie camera.
She used a app to run threw the woods. It tells her how far she ran, how long it took and shows the trails she ran on by GPS.
The Iphone is pretty cook. I plan on gettin her a Ipad latter on.
You don't know what yer missing.
And I got friends with BMW motorcycles. They are still good and dependable if that is what you want.
I think personally that is what Cowboy needs.
Were talkin about different kinds of changes.

I have no need to be in constant communications with the world. No one cares what I have to say, nor do they care where I am. If someone wants me, they can leave a message on my answering machine at home. Besides, everyone I see that has these new devices spends all their time looking at them like they are some kind of god. And they don't answer most of the incoming calls anyway. I think people waste most of their day playing with them.

One of these days we are in for a shock when terrorists knock out our communications. We will be paralyzed looking at the dead screen while they blow us away.

That's why I wanted to ride again, boys, 'cause when I ride, none of the world's problems ride with me, and I am sure that's why many of us ride, too. Even though my shifting leg and hands ached afterwards, I was in 7th heaven the rest of the day. I am so grateful for all the help you guys gave to help get this ol' scooter of mine up and running. Looking forward to the next ride which may be Thursday evening . . .
