I use mothers once the chrome is clean. I use the turtle wax chrome cleaner to get it clean. I like the flitz ball for polishing wire spokes and other cracks. Once every thing is cleaned and polished I go over it with windex.

I've tried about all of them and for my money MAAS (MAAS Inc.) is the best you can get for chrome. It is non abrasive (unlike Mothers and the others) and leaves a super shine on the chrome. MAAS also makes a metal polish that works well on ALuminum and is my second favorite for aluminum. My favorite for aluminum is Wenol (http://www.wenol-polish.com/). Al

2fastnaz, I don't see why you use the Windex after cleaning and polishing, can you elaborate a bit.

It's an old car show trick. Once you wax/polish all the chrome hit it with windex and look at the shine. It will really make the chrome pop. Try it you'll like it.

In between polish I use denatured alcohol, you can get it at any paint store by the gallon, got a $1 spray bottle and use paper towel or rag.

really cleans up the chrome and leaves no streaks or spots.

Our HD shop started carrying a product called Showtime. Its an absolutely great cleaner and polish. The last time at Street Vibs in Reno there was a booth Set up selling it. I saw bike builders there that were using it so I asked them how they liked it and everyone of them highly recommended it. I bought a case of it and for cleaning the whole bike plus giving it a great shine it works very well and does not leave any streaks or residue on any parts of the bike and that includes the chrome. I still will give my bike a good wax every once and awhile.

See what happens when you read this good information too fast? I had missed #11 post, but thank you sir, I will follow up from here.

I'd imagine the next question is, how well does this work an aluminum wheels. I know that it works on Chrome, but how weel does it perform with aluminum wheels or is there a different product for the wheels, still utilizing the Flitz wheel?

Is the consensus for fixing light pitting a very fine steel wool and then one of these cleaners, or is it hopeless and I'm stuck with it? I tried a little Never Dull for the metal parts and it was OK for cleaning/shining, but didn't help much with pitting.

Pitting is simply a breakdown of the chemical composition of a bad chrome job, either oxygen or other type of oxydizer was present during the batch process or the chemical compound was just over used. Once pitting starts, there is no going back! It is basically rusting from within. It was there when you first got it, you just did not notice it then.

One other thing I do that nobody has mentioned yet is buff. Kits can be had fairly cheap with a buffing wheel that will fit into an electric drill (or pneumatic tool) and several grades of rouge. I usually use red, white and tripoli on aluminum parts that don't come off easy (like lower legs for example) and then go with the Wenol. If you do a real good job and want it to last for about a year , there is a product called Zoop Seal that you can apply to the buffed and shined aluminum. The Eastwood Co. sells it and also they have all kinds of buffs that can get into the nooks and crannies where ordinary buffers won't go. I gotta warn ya though they are very proud of that Zoop Seal.
