A PC V from Fuel Moto is one way to go and if you add a cam later, they could give you a canned map for the change...if you're not going past a Stage one the HD Stage one dealer download might be an option,it'll keep you at the lean stock AFR's but you won't burn a valve...but if you add a cam later it's no good, then it's back to a Fuel Moto PC V

Three of us had the PCV, we all sold them and went back to the Thunder-Max.
It will take care of the lean condition, and do a lot better job than the PCV.

No I don't git a kickback. But i've been to TM school one time.

It seems easier to work with and does a better job.
Hate to see people make mistakes buying a tuner to just git by.
Save the extra money and git the best tuner to start with.
Thunder-Max has lot better customer support.

Better than that catch some bike shows where they have TM dealers there or go to Daytona or Sturgis and git it from them. Let them do the install for you and set it up.

A thundermax for a Stock bike. Will git rid of the EPA setting and yer bike running lean. And with the Wide Band sensors it will adjust for most any condition, such as air temp, altitude and all.
It comes with the base maps to use in the setup. The software with the TM is easier to use.

Then when you change the pipes you can look at the setup and see if you need to change it.
If you go to cams later on or build the engine its there to help you.

Why start with a cheap tuner, that you can't work with very easily and its hard to make changes to.
The thundermax comes with a 3 yr warranty. It totally replaces yer factory ECM.
The power commander does not. Its a piggy back unit and takes up more room.
And if you git the auto tune module with the PCV it even takes up more room

The Thunder-Max is more user friendly that the PCV and by the time you git the Auto tune and 02 sensorw yer near the price of the TM.
Why not start with the best and go from there.
In the map you can control yer idle, Rev limiiter projected afr's and all.
It will show the front and rear cylinders.

    And do a better job.

But what do I know. Been throwing money away on different tuners , just waitin on TM to come out with the Throttle By Wire unit.
Spent enough money to buy 2 thundermaxs and a little left over.
Its yer money throw it away on what you want.
    WAs just trying to help.

Ditto, same thing I said earlier.

I'm starting to think CB works for Tmax LOL

You'll get a lot of different answers based on folks
experiences (that is different than experience) LOL

It is nothing more than an air filter and pipes,
buy something that can be tuned if needed
but doesn't have to be tuned,

Talk to the three people we suggested

    Fuel Moto USA Jamie

    Zippers ThunderMax

Wouldn't the simple fuelpak by Vance and hines work well for a stage one set up?

Yes but it's not really tuneable, if he has problems with the Fuelpak not hitting all the areas properly there is nothing he can do about it but change tuner devices, or, if he puts in a set of cams, or does head work down the road the fuelpak is limited.

He's better off JMO to invest in a little better tuning device
that can grow with the changes to the bike.

It's a rare breed that sticks to just one filter and pipe change LOL

Like Patton I don't like having to take the same ground twice,
so I suggest the tuners that you can grow with so you dont' pay twice for the same basic thing.
