I wear a full face helmet, I spent 12 years in motorsports mostly with the NHRA. I've seen what can happen, it's my noggin & I'll protect it the best I can.

I wear a 1/2 helmet, turtle shell, skid lid or how ever you want to describe it. Unless I ride to Myrtle Beach then the lid comes off most of the time.

NC just amended the Helmet law. Starting in Jan all riders need to wear a DOT helmet... Looks like I need to buy 3 new ones... My wife, daughter and I.:)

Not even sure if anyone is still reading on this one, but if it save one person it is worth it.:D I recently bought an ACC carbon fiber 1/2 helmet cuz it is the lightest one out there (and they look spiffy). Well, long story short, not real happy with it. It IS light (about a pound), but the "padding" sucks, the straps are a real muther to adjust, and NO VENTS. That is a must have in SE Georgia. Overall...NOT worth the 200 bucks. I still wear it cuz I hate wasting money, but in hindsight, I would have been better off with a skid lid or something.:(

We read everything around here...:D That sucks to spend that much and not be happy with it. It's a shame you couldn't have returned it.

I COULD have returned it, but the lil sheet o paper that came with it said something to the effect of...Returns must be in absolutlely new condition. No scratches, buffs, bug guts, etc...you get the idea. I have dealt with co. like that in the past and it is like pulling teeth gettin your money back. Besides...it isn't HORRIBLE, just not worth 200 bucks. Maybe 75:D

hookerwrench - I know EXACTLY what ya mean. Spent the $ for a H-D helmet that never quite wore as good as it looked on the shelf. :gah: Now I happily ride wearing a $20+ DOT helmet that I picked up at Street Vibes a few years back. It even matches my bike's color perfectly. Live, pay, and learn.

    Depends on circumstances

In NC I usually wear a half shell in the summer. In the winter a 3/4 over my furr lined snoopy aviator cap. If I border jump to SC or someplace else with no lid law I usually just wear a smile....again in warm weather. Bald heads are no fun with temps in the 40's or lower at 70 mph......

Only Because State Law Doesn't Give Me The Option. Never Put A Helmet On Until I Came To Wash. Now It Just Wouldn't Feel Right Without One. Funny How That Changes.

when I was younger pre-helmet law in Calif I never wore one, even when we were in the dirt. then was forced to riding because I was having to much fun (or should I say my ex was having to much fun) and ended up with full custody of my daghter. Within that time the helmet law came into effect and I swore I never put one of those dam things on and that I would either move or never ride again. Now I have 4 of them. I love the full face in the winter when it's cold and or raining. The 3/4 when it gets a little warm (and I feel like a whimp)to keep the hot wind from beating me up to much. and either one of the 1/2 shells is what I wear most of the other time.
