Typical of today's younguns - to lazy to get up and go to the nearest trashcan. It's not like they haven't been told . . .

Was our bike owner too lazy to maintain his ride?

I'd say yeah, he's an old greybeard, PHil said he went to clean up the front wheel and the guy wasn't happy, he likes it old and dirty....

Dirty on the outside is fine if that's what floats the guy's boat - but please, not the inside!

I wonder what the inside of his engine & tranny look like. I knew a guy once who never changed the oil in his truck - just kept adding oil when it got low LOL.

His truck was still running when I left California o_O.

Guys I've known that don't keep up the outside appearance of their bike generally don't keep up the inside either. Those guys that will keep up the outside generally take pride in their ride and keep up the maintenance of their bikes.

If you don't like it enough to wash it and service it once in awhile, you likely should sell it so someone else can enjoy it. JMO.

Yep I know a guy like that, to him its some kind of strange badge of honor
to have a pos for a bike, like it makes him cooler some way, although he's got 180K on his bikes but he runs them with worn down parts...

    His stuff, his choice.

I make some financial sacrifices each time I buy a bike or a part, and if they were always dirty and looked like &$%# I would feel like I wasted my effort. So mine will be clean and shiny. But if some dude wants his stuff to look like crap that is fine, just don't move in beside my house, and park the next spot over please.:)

Yeah, to each his own, I guess. Yesterday met a biker who has a '62 panhead and wants to sell it. He yakkety-yakked my ears off. Never asked me a thing about my scooter. I think he was high. It was all about him. But I was curious, and followed him out to his place so I could see this creation of his.

Once, it was a nice chopper, but he let it go to seed. sad to see it. Bike sits in a leaky shed, no tarp. Tires cracked and low on air. Said he hadn't ridden it in 7 years. When he said he wanted $25,000 for it, I laughed. I rode home and hope I never see him again.

Couldn't get a word in edgewise. Yup, it was a relief. I got his number for Tattoo if he wants to call him. But I'll warn him ahead of time LOL. He knows a lot of guys into the older bikes, especially choppers. Somebody's always looking for a panhead, you know.
