Well, the more i ride my bike, the more I love my HD.

Today, it was really nice weather so the wife and I decided to get on our bikes and south. We ended up in a town called New Ulm. We decided to take a little rest. As my wife and I were sitting outside by our bike there was a guy that came up to me and just asking a whole bunch of questions. We talked for a little while then he asked what kind of bike it was. I told him, and he just could not believe it.

After he left, I turned to my wife and I said, "this is why Harley is the only bike for me." It is just plain and simply the best bike out there. I know there a lot of people that may disagree, but, "Oh well." :)

    OK...

I have to respond to the last post before I forget. My bike doesn't vibrate, but after riding about 30 miles on the p-pad of my friend's rigid frame Flathead, yeah... things get to tingling. ;)

Well I'm writing a book about it right now. I really shouldn't be here.

Anyway, I was really young when I fell for Harleys, and I can't remember my exact feelings, but I assume it was the rebellion factor. I started dating guys with Harleys when I was 15 (my poor mother). When my parents forced me to go to college, I chose a school in Daytona Beach so I could be in the middle of the scene. I spent a lot of time at the Boothill and eventually met my first husband. I made a deal with him to trade my car for a chopped hard tail Sportster and a Shovelhead. I ended up moving in with him and we opened a shop. I never had anything to do with a bike that wasn't a Harley.

After leaving the second husband, I had to raise my son on my own and could barely afford to pay the rent and put food on the table. I busted my butt, went back to school, and got a good job with the phone company. One day I realized I could afford a new Harley, and I went down and ordered a 2001 Softail Standard. Since I'd been riding old rigid frames forever, I wanted the Softail. I wanted the Standard because I had no intention of leaving it stock. I couldn't see spending any money on extras from the factory.

She's got 108,000 miles on her now - the love of my life. Barely any repairs needed. Got a new top end when I went to 95", but I didn't have to. Also put in gear driven cams, so maybe I averted that problem before it became a repair. Had to replace the speedo sensor the other day. Hardly an issue, but that's about as bad as I've had to deal with.

As far as Japanese riders, maybe we're more diverse here. We all wave, for the most part. The worst are the Euro-snobs, but they aren't always jerks. I don't think that all people mix like that, but our group does. We're constantly giving each other grief about the brands, but it's all in fun. Nobody can argue with my 108K miles. :D

Good story Abby, I got so called friends who ride Honda Goldwings and everytime I'm around them they have to start in putting down Harley's, so much that I really don't care to be around them anymore, gets tiring.

I like em cause there American Iron, met some really good friends that ride Harley's. But most of all I just love the way it rides and sounds. Its one of those things that's just hard to explain but to the other non-Harley riders its like if I have to explain it you just wouldn't understand.

Ok, Ok!!! So I am one of these individuals myself!! I wear completely Harley, but I drive my 98 Suzuki! I know where my heart really is. People probably think i'm a little strange wearing Harley and not riding one. I have taking the hubby's (JB) out but it is too top heavy right now for me so I needed a started bike.
