I looked at all the links you guys were so kind to post. Nice jackets, but even at $400+ for the least expensive one ( a classic jacket made by Fox Creek), it's just too much geetus - especially at this time of year.
I've been considering a compromise with the denim jackets Leatherup offers that have armor in the elbows, shoulders, and back. I see a black denim one that is tolerable. Read the reviews and most were favorable. I can get one for around a $100. I don't like the look of the oriental leather jackets - leather is too thin and ill fitting.
I think next week I may order one - I can always send it back. Might also pick up the S&S carb from Tony.

Leatherup does have a big selection and some of the stuff looks pretty cool. I've been looking to get a new jacket too and like the denim looking jackets. If you do get one let us know how you like it and maybe some pics so that we can check out the details better than the pics on the website.

I don't consider $400 very much for something that's gonna last a lifetime. The one I have is over 30 years old and looks good for another 10. I don't think denim would even last beyond 1 season if you ride much. It's like everything else-- you get what you pay for.

Bates is still doing custom orders. Will build it just the way you want it. Had one done around 1970 for 125. 'Wish I could still fit in it.Now about 450.

Joshbob, maybe you should look at Charlie46's old Bates jacket if it's too small for him.

Josh, go for the mink! How cool. You'd be a throwback to the late 60's Just imagine the tails of the coat gracefully trailing out behind you and the scooter as you bop down the highway signing "I got you babe" :roflmao:
