5.56, you want the 5.56 as you can shoot .223 in a 5.56
but not the other way around. Looking for a good SKS Norinco
as that won't be outlawed but it shoots 7.62... Russian/Chinlee models

I seriously thought about putting it on Gun Broker and making enough
to retire for a month LOL

I think its the lone good buy out there, they were dirt cheap
but now you can get them and people are all tied up in EBR's
so might as well get an M1 or SKS

Today I went to go a look at some more pieces. Today I took a close look at the XDS and the XDM. Now, just from a fitment standpoint, I do like the XDS better than the XDM. I do like how skinny the XDS is, fits better in my hand than what the XDM does. It is 10* here boys so no I did not take the time to find a range and fire these weapons just yet.

Yea Hickok45 makes it look easy and fun. I had an XDS and couldn't keep the gun from jamming. Sent it back to Springfield and it still wouldn't function properly. Traded it in for a Sig Ultra compact 1911 in 45 cal. Much better pistol and very reliable.

I like the XDm 3.8 compact so much I haven't tried the XDS.
The XDS is not that much smaller then the XDm 3.8 compact.
But you loose a lot of bullets with the XDs.
I know the XDm 3.8 compact may seem fat and bigger. The fat part fits my had super well.
Once you hold the weapon and shoot it. Everything comes together.
The gun is very accurate and when you carry it on your side. You totally forgit its there.

Might of been the kind of ammo you shot in it.
And Springfield suggested I don't shoot anything but ball ammo , or full metal jackets, No hollow points, for at least 2-300 rounds.

I tried all different brands and they were all FMJ. Might have just been that particular pistol but I have the Ruger SR40C and added the XD40SC and both shoot excellent. The Ruger has a match trigger on it and Ill need to do a trigger kit on the XD40SC but for carry it will be fine.

The pistol (XDS) shot very well when it worked and grouping off hand was pretty good. I heard they are going to be coming out in 9mm and 40cal sometime in 2013. My Rugers are double stack and my XD is also double stack. JB, better get one pretty soon cause OB has vowed to ban any gun with over 10 rounds.

My main issue with both the XDS and the XDM is that the mag release is way forward. With the ambidextrous release however, I tried using my pointer finger to release from the right side of the gun instead of using my thumb. I felt pretty comfortable doing it that way but the gentleman that was there with me suggested that that wasn't a good practice. Is that a good idea or not?

You don't release the mag with one had. You don't want the mag release in yer way.
I hold the gun with one hand and use my Thumb with the other hand to release the mag.
You don't want it to where the mag might accidently release and fall out either. Its suppose to be in there kinda tight.
With my index finger on the right hand side of the weapon. I can use my right index finger and release the mag while holding the weapon.
While holding the weapon I can use my right thumb on the left hand side of the weapon and release the clip.

You are holding a Brand NEW WEAPON. It hasn't been lubricated or broke in.
Its Gonna be tight. Just like a Brand NEW HARLEY that has to be broke in.

    C'mom Man !;)

Then what is your answer? Yes or No? I am right handed and I felt it more comfortable to use my index finger to release the mag as I am holding the piece. As I was saying, I wa just being told that I should not do that. The gentleman's reasoning for it was that he felt that was way too easy to engage the trigger. I thought this was strange considering my index finger is the trigger finger.. Thanks.

I don't know the correct answer but in the instructor had my wife using her index finger because with gloves on she couldn't get the mag to release with her thumb. He said whatever works best for you, but what does he know he only a ex special forces and Delta force guy.
