Cardboard's right - I didn't hear about stuff like that when I was a youngster either. Maybe people didn't talk about it. But there weren't as many broken families then as now. Or absentee fathers. Or lesbo/**** couples raising kids up to be just like them.
When the traditional family goes down the tubes, the country will follow. Look at ancient Greece and Rome - they disintegrated from within.

Yeah, we all drank 3.2 beer and got sick or drunk. Good times! Heard that the "beatniks" smoked it, and jazz musician's, too. But never seen it till I was in my 20's in the mid 60's.
There are a lot of things eating away at the foundations of our country, but I think the most insidious is this cross gender crap. People don't even know who or what they are anymore. I believe this will weaken the country quicker and worse than anything else.

Cross dressing has been around for a long time but when young kids don't know who or what they are is a bit scary. :(

Joshbob is right, broken families has changed. We have been in Asheville since 1983. Wife been teaching middle school here (7th grade) all that time. She says when she started here, norm was a full family. Now she says maybe 25% of the kids have 2 parents, maybe and only about 15% have their two biological parents. Those are not scientific nos, just her take on how much life has changed here in the almost 30 years we have been here. :(

My wife taught school in Lake Oswego here in Oregon for 30 years before retiring. Even though Lake Oswego is the most prominent area in the state and even though there were more married parents than other areas it was still an issue. It has become a major issue in this country. To many people in this country have taken the easy path and do not consider the consequences or the responsibilities of what having a family means. I'm surely not advocating religion but I have noticed that families that are involved in a church seem to have better and more consistent family values than many who don't. Again, not saying those that don't go to church do not have any family values. I'll probably get killed on this

I think you are right, can not say non church equals no family values, but I do believe that those who are genuine about their faith vs using it to judge someone else will have values that will help keep a family together. I don't have the answers, just saying...
