I have a 2002 Ultra Classic, with fairing lowers. Do these lowers need to be removed in warm weather?

I have a 97 Heritage that will not shift down. It seems to be stuck in 3rd gear.
The shifter seems to stick and then will release as if it is shifting down to 2nd or first gear but is still in 3rd. To shift up it is hard also as if it is binding inside the trany.
Any suggestions or comments will be welcomed !

in my original search for power cones i stumbled on to this site. sounds like you guys know whats up. so i wanna hear your input on power cones and how they have or have not improved performance on your hogz. i run true duals w/o baffles, i get some slight popping on decel, but i like it,........... do they work?

G'day all,
Just after some advice please. Had the bike from brand new since 20.
I have installed stage 1 kit a couple of years back and goes/sounds great!
Have just got a hairline crack for the secong time in join of pipes in rear cylinder. Cost about $500.00 each time. Only done 28000km.
The dealer said that I should look at Supertrapp and a Power Commander which will be like $1300.00 for exhaust and $600+ for the PC.
I like the twin exhaust I have but am told 2 into 1 system will stop cracks as vibration won't twist pipe???
After any advice please especially from people in the same boat.
