Yep, wife and I spent most of the day cleaning from top to bottom getting all the mold and moss off. She's now ready to roll. Yep, we could pull the bikes behind in our enclosed trailer and camp.

Hello all, new to the forum and looking for some advice. I have a 2004 XL883, bought it last fall from a dealer that knew little about it's history. Bike has a Screamin Eagle hi flow air filer and S/E slip on mufflers. Ever since I got it, it coughs through the carb sometimes when blipping the throttle, such as when downshifting for a stop, and I couldn't solve the problem completely with the idle mixture screw. I figured the carb was never rejetted, so I got the basic CV Performance kit, which came with a new needle, 44 slow jet and 175 main jet. The instruction video also mentioned checking the vacuum hole in the slide, and said it should be 7/64".
Well this morning I took the carb apart to install the kit, and discovered that the main jet wouldn't thread into the emulsion tube, and...

I keep getting pop-ups about route 66 when I'm on the forum. Not complaining, just interested how the ol' venerable highway is doing these days. I travelled it in the 60s and 70s for long stretches before I-40 took it over; on bike, hitch-hiking, bus and cage. There used to be places where train tracks ran beside it and I rode freights, too, in my hobo days. When I got tired of riding the rods, I'd jump off the train when it slowed down, walk over to 66 and stick out my thumb. Those were the days, boys . . .
When Mac the Wife and I moved to North Carolina in '99 from California, we travelled sections of old 66, at least what was left of it then, and stayed in a motel in Texas. It looked like one of the original motels from the old days and the rates were $21.95.
