Got clearance Thursday from doc for riding again. Knee still hurts but useable. A old friend looked me up after more than ten years and asked to ride together. He only got a bike recently and took the MSF course and has logged 4k on a Honda Shadow (a plagiarized Harley ). We met 730 this morning at 55 degrees! Went east to the northeast end of Lhun Gisland (Orient Point as opposed to Montauk Point which is the southeast end) coffee'd up then i led a scenic ride home. We did just about 150 miles. Weather here is now perfect. Chilly nights and 70's during the day. Man it felt good to ride again. Even if it was with a fake Harley !

Thursday I left the house at 7:45A.M. and didn't get home till 8:30P.M. I rode about 452 miles. I rode to bellows falls,VT to meet my buddy Matt then we headed out to Greenfield,Mass to meet another rider up from Norwich,CT and then onto the Mohawk trail and the Golden Eagle restaurant. We got to the Freindlies in Greenfield, Mass rt 2 West about 30 minutes earlier then Bob so we had a lite breakfast while waiting. We'd no sooner finished then Bob pulled in. We chit chatted a few minutes and then hit the Mohawk trail. We get to the Golden Eagle restaurant for 11am and it opens at noon..WTF. FYI...the Mohawk trail is an awsome ride with harsh twisties and panoramic epic views, just beautiful. The area took a hit last year with Irene, was actually shut down for most of the summer and the...

Today while riding down I-5 in Chehalis WA a guy was struck by lightning in his helmet. Motorist behind him reported that his whole body lighted up. He managed to stop his bike. His helmet was burned as was his neck and ears. They got him to the next exit to a convenience store where a ambulance they had emergency vehicles. They showed pictures of his helmet and it was charred and some of the wiring was burn. I'll se if I can find some local news media photos. Another rider was killed by lightening when he and his wife pulled the motorcycle over and took refuge under a tree. Right now we are having severe weather warnings as a huge lightening storm moves up the I-5 corridor. Been one of those days,

A Mexican, an Arab, and an Arizona cowboy are in the same bar.
When the Mexican finishes his beer, he throws his glass
in the air, pulls out his pistol, and shoots the glass to pieces. He says,
'In Mexico, our glasses are so cheap we don't need to drink with the same
one twice.'
The Arab, obviously impressed by this, drinks non-alcohol beer
(cuz he's a Muslim!), throws it into the air, pulls out his AK-47, and
shoots the glass to pieces. He says, 'In the Arab World, we have so much
sand to make glasses that we don't need to drink with the same one twice
either.'
The Arizona cowboy, cool as a cucumber, picks up his beer,
downs it in one gulp, throws the glass into the air, whips out his
45, and shoots the Mexican and the Arab.
Catching his glass, setting it on the bar, and calling...
