Hey everyone.
I have a buddy with a "77 FXE. He has rebuilt the bike due to electrical problems. The main problem is the electric starter will not disengage after pushing the button.
Checked all the wiring, new harness, 4th or 5th starter he says. Button works fine open and closed. Switch will not disengage starter by turning off power.
Turn on switch, push on/off button to on and push starter button and starter goes. Won't shut off without pulling battery leads.
It will not go until switch and on/off button are on, just like supposed to. Then run and run and run.
Could the solenoid be sticking? It just will not disegage. How can I check it? Have checked the grounds and they are per the schematic.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Softtail

Running a krafteck frame [ american quantum liciened from the kenny boyce " FXR pro street frame" ] & werks shocks & trying to ride two up is killing my tire budget [ bottoming out easily with a 13" shock ] & making life hard as i'm confined to trolling @ last call for nasty's with a car
Saw mention that you've experienced fxr pro street frames in reading thru your site .
Seriously thoe questions I have concerning the shocks mounting angle [picture] due to the swingarms mounts ,,,, will spending cash on heavier rated shocks solve my crisis or will this set ups [frame to swing arms angle] geometry limit me to solo riding for good or struts .
If a heavier rated shock [ i'm 270# + passenger + saddle bags , ttl approx 480# + ] would work , is there anything shock wise that you'd...

AFNurse, look what you and Hella are going to miss this year.
For any of you that live in or around Germany, Spangdahlem AB is going to have Billy Lane here for the 4th of July. The base plans on having a car and bike show to include a ride along the Mosel with Billy. He will have three of his bikes here with him, don't know which three. They tried to get him here later in the month for the "Can't do Sturgis Rally" but got him for the 4th instead.
Since I mentioned it I might as well go into a bit more detail. The base will once again be hosting a "Duty Calls, Can't do Sturgis Rally". It will be held from 21-23 July 2006. I was told they will have a burnout box, dyno, live music, and loud exhaust contest, that was won by a 68 cougar last year.
I hope to see some of you at at...
