Putting my '04 Road King Custom back on the road after a long northern winter and noticed the gas guage is stuck on full. Any recommendations on unsticking it or am I "stuck" buying a new one.

In removing the rocker assemblies to get at the lower housing do you need to be sure you rotate the engine to relieve pressure on the push rods? I would think if they are loosened equally and slowly there should be equal pressure on all push rods as the rocker assembly comes up and you would not damage or bend push rods or rocker assemblies. If so, what is the best way to manually rotate the engine and insure the lifter is at the lowest point on the cam?
Thanks!

Thanks!

Hey all. I bought a 1991 FLHS last October for a rider/play bike. I've got the bike set up the way I want it, for ride, look, handling. When I bought the bike, it only came with an S&S Super E carb, the stock set up was long gone. The bike has little mods done, just an EV13 cam, the carb, and newer exhaust with Python Slip ons. I couldn't get the bike to idle down last fall, anything below 1100-1300 would start to lope until loading up and dying. Bike is running just a hair rich, but I thought the timing was possibly causing some of this issue. Choose to look at it last evening, check timing, ect, and readjust the carb. When I opened up the timing cover, I found that it had been moved to full advance. The hose running from the carb to the V.O.E.S. is old and hardened. Pulled the hose off...

I purchased this 1979 ironhead 1000cc sportster from a pawn shop and it diddnt run. dont realy know anything about whats been done before, to this bike.
I installed a set of points and got my bike running. but one problem it will only hit on the front cylender. the pipes not getting hot on the back pipe. I did check for fire on the rear one and it is sparking correctly. it has 120 psi compression on the rear and 110 psi on the front cylender I also lookied inside the cylender and it apeares that both valves are opening and closing. when Im giving it gas it does mist out the carb. compression - fuel - spark - should hit. I also replaced the plug wire and also the plug. I also switched sides of the coil and still hits on the front but not on the back. I have adjusted the points every way...

I have a 96 ci ultima engine on my bike. I started it last night and it started squiting oil around the filter. Upon further inspection I noticed that it had actually blew the oil filter away from the base of the filter. Thinking it was a fluke or a bad filter I replaced it and it did the same thing to the new filter. Any ideas?
