I have a new 2006 FLHX Street Glide. My problem is the locking and ignition mechanism on this model has failed. I went to start the bike by unlocking it, it unlocked and swicthed it to the start ignition mode. I immediately had power and everything worked, however after getting on the bike to start it, I realized the fork lock was still locked. How could that be if I unlocked the mechanism and started the bike. Yeah, I can start the bike and everything else works, I just can't unlock the forks. Any suggestions??? In the deep water ans sinking fast!

Okay, I'm different, I'll admit that. I look upon a bike from a practical platform, usefulness. My bikes are as much about transportation as about style. My SV is my affordable fun. My OldWing is my mule, comfortable mule that I could afford.
Now, since owning that Wing, I've come to the conclusion that a touring bike is almost indispensable as a working ride. You have great luggage capacity, all lockable, why they call 'em "baggers". But, beyond that is the ability to tote a trailer which I've been doing a lot lately since these high gas prices are punching me in the gut when I show up at the Exxon speedy stop in my 14 mpg, big gas guzzling V8 powered 3/4 ton van. Three bucks a gallon and a 38 gallon tank??????
Anyhoo, I really like lighter bikes. I don't like riding...

Rode the SV up to Texas World Speedway for the CMRA races. I corner worked for pay and free lunch, LOL, and a ring side seat for the USGPRU (United States Grand Prix Racer's Union) national final. My friend, Will Gruy, was leading the national points by 6 points, the western division by 6 points. This guy from Michigan motored him on a Euro spec Rocky Stargill tuned Aprilia, but Will wasn't far off the pace.
Qualifying times, Will went 1:50.196, a little over a second off the lap record set by Ryan Andrews. This Michigan guy, Garrett Carter, went 149.966, first ever 125 into the 140s! That friggin' bike was a rocket! Will was just out gunned.
Here's a pic of my little buddy, Derek Wagnon, and a video of the action. Derek, like Will, came up with TMGP on minis. I have a video of a...
