Got some questions which have been probably asked before, but couldn't find it when I did a search. I just finished installing a set of VH Propipe HS 2-1 on my stock "03 Dyna Superglide Sport with TC88. This being my first Harley I don't want to screw anything up and need some advice. After reading the shop manual for the bike and the instructions in the VH carb rejet kit, plus a lot of posts on this board; I want to make sure I do this right. My questions are:
1) Any tips on the best way to remove the carb like tricks that made it go smoother from riders who have done this before?
2) The VH kit says to replace the main jet holder (emulsion tube) and install a 185 main jet - sound OK or any other suggestions?
3) Drill out the slide lift hole? Most posts I've read suggested not...

My fiancee has a 2003 Road King Firefighter Special with Hooker slip ons (Right set to HP / Left set to TQ), Screamin Eagle air filter, Stock ECM. I used map M807-019. The right muffler appears to be running too rich. There is a lot of carbon around the rim of the muffler and when he is first accelerating (leaving the driveway first thing), there is a puff of smoke from the right muffler.
We tried to adjust the buttons but can't seem to get it into adjustment mode. A new 9 volt batter has been hooked up. The kill switch is on, he turns the ignition on and holds the three buttons down simultaneously. The instructions don't state how long he should do this, but it doesn't seem to matter. Nothing seems to get the PC into button adjustment mode.

I have V&H True Dual Headers, V&H Ovals and a Power Commander III, Ness big Sucker and stock ECM on my 05 RK. I down loaded map M807-179 into the PC III. My buddy with the exact same set up just had his ride on the dyno and found out it was extremely lean. I plan on doing the same with mine but wanted to know
1. if this could be the cause for all the popping during acceleration and deceleration.
2. What kind of damage could be done by running lean...what should I look for?
3. Could lean running cause the bike to burn oil?
Thanks for the feedback

I've been building Harleys for many years, my first bike was a basket knuckle at age 15. Recently the doctor made me switch, at 60, to a dresser. I bought an '02 and three years later, I want to make it more 'mine'. It's carbureted, does anyone know if it has computer(s) controls like the injected models? I want to modify the exhaust system to remove the 'cross-over' pipe, and change the air cleaner to a smaller one, and remove the smog junk under the seat since they have not yet required smog checks for bikes here in CA. All as the $$$becomes available and 'homemade' as much as possible.
