hello, i just recently purchased a 1971 FLH, from a guy who purchased it from a shriner. i had to take the primary cover off, to replace a faulty stator. but i did not count the teeth on the gears. the bike is running perfectly, but will only reach a top speed of 78 mph. can anyone tell me what top speed should be, and how best to go about achieving this. i have to shift to second gear, before the bike reaches 10 mph. oh yea, its all original and is equipped with a four speed.

I am having problems with the highbeam/driving lights
cutting out sitting or driving? where do I start? I dont think it
is in the High beam switch. Low beams work just fine.

I have a 2004 fxd super glide with a carb. After looking into the mufflers I see one plate that stands between the bike running straight through exhaust. I don't want to do alot of fooling around with the carb if I don't have to. If I drill this plate out will it effect the running of the bike? Will it be to loud? Has anybody tried such a thing?

I recently bought a Softail with Super Trapp dual staggered exhaust on it. I know Super Trapp have removable baffles. I took the pipes apart today to see what was inside. There were 18 baffles in each pipe. I see the ad on this site for those pipes says you can expand up to 24 baffles. I have a few questions:
1: Will adding 6 more baffles increase the low end torque.

2. Is it bad to take out some baffles trying to get noise (I went down to 6 and didn't really see a change in anything except the oil temp seemed lower)

3.Does anyone have any other info on these pipes for me.

I went to the HD corporate HQ today in Milwaukee. Nothing special about it... two large buildings connected by a concourse. Lots of HD logos. But, it WAS cool to be a 'ground zero'.
