i have come across a 1976 sporty 1000 complete engine that had low miles on it but it has not been turned over in about 15yrs or so....wondering what a fair price would be to offer him. he took it out of the bike to rebuild bike after laying it over and never put it back in the bike. put an evo in instead.

Maybe if I rephrase the question, it'll make more sense than my earlier post...
My buddy has an SU Eliminator II carb on his chopper, and its spitting gas out of the throat under hard acceleration or just when revving the motor. I've been flying blind with this carburetor, as it seems to be quite different from the SU carbs I've worked on in the past. The biggest difference being the location and adjustment of the mixture needle. The bike didn't come with any information on this carb, and Yahoo! searches have been fruitless. Does anyone have any pointers how to adjust this carburetor? One of the guys here at work suggested that its a float level issue rather than a mixture issue, but I'm open to suggestions.
If all else fails, Plan B is to rebuild and reinstall the Zenith carb...

On a 2004 Flhtcui Electraglide I installed the Screaming Eagle slash down mufflers. Bike runs pretty good without re-mapping, a little popping on deceleration. Plug tests indicate small amount of richness. I suspect that if I install Screaming Eagle or Big Sucker breather kit, I will need to install a Power Commander. I don't really want to go to the extra expense. I'm wondering if just replacing the filter element with a K & N filter will eliminate the richness and also eliminate the need for re-mapping.

I have a 2004 Road King Classic, I just put new screamin Eagle slip on mufflers on yesterday. The parts guy at my HD dealer told me I did not need to do the stage 1 kit or update the ECM software right now, (or never), if I did not want to. Am I running a risk of hurting the engine without the ECM download?
Thanks for any help.
