Hi all I am interested is installing a removal hardware Kit for a backrest and tourpak on my 1996 Road King. I have read somewhere here that the 1997-2007 kit also works on a 1996. Having a hard time finding one for a 1996. If anyone can take a picture of their set up of the hardware so I can compare that would be great. for the guy with later models 20o8 and up it is major change to the set up that will not fit my bike, I need to see where the points set up on the early version. As always thanks in advanced to all and any info who has put a detachable kit on would be great

Did the vacuum test, with no results in the change of idle. Carb has been off with new accelerator diaphragm and cleaned . Did not look bad inside. If you start the bike when its cold its either a little carb cleaner shot or your hand. It back fires until it is warm then it runs and idles like it is suppose to. But if it sits there and cools down it is back to the above mentioned tactics. New coil and new plugs new filter in the tank. For some reason it acts like no fuel when it is cold.

I have owned this 1996 Harley Road King and I made a change to the handlebars for not a lot of money. When I rode I noticed that I was slumping over a bit and being 6' plus I decided to make a change for a more comfort to be able to sit up straighter. What a difference is the ride comfort. Here is a couple of pic from before and after. The look is also nice and not hacked.....
