Hello,,just joined the site,Iam picking up a 80 shovelhead hasn't been on the road for about a year to 2 years, the clutches seem to be slipping a little,?I was told this could happen because the bike has not been road in so long?
I would like to ride it home, about 50 miles it started up first try with a jump and is very clean, any suggestions? should I take the chance and if it starts to slip tow it,I really want to see if its ok.. motor is strong....

Hello! I have a '06 883c sporty and on impulse i ordered a stage 1 cv carb upgrade from harley performance (after reading about how much better it will run) ... i still have about 1 year warrenty left from stealer. i plan on changing air cleaner and more free breathing exhaust (i really hate the sound of that stock exhaust). maybe i should return the kit or hang on to it for a year?
it doesn't really run THAT poorly.. coughs a bit . a little rough idle.
any advice?

Have not posted for a while so I don't know if this has been covered already. Other than cosmetics, is there any practical reason to go with a wider tire on my 2001 FXST? I'm not talking about superwide 10" monsters on show bikes, but going to the nomonally wider tire on the 2007 HD models. I got to ride a friend's new softtail, and I didn't really feel much of a handling difference.

I have been having starter issues, slow turning starter, chattering engage/disengage...etc. Over time I have installed a new starter, new cables, new battery, rebuilt solenoid, compression releases. Just about every replacement part there is! And the problem does not go away. I have been delaying tracing the wiring back to the switch because my wiring is hidden and will be a real pain in the neck.
So, as a last resort, i bought a push button that bolts in place of the starter end cap. Wouldnt you know, it starts every time. And without using my compression releases. The only issue is i have to bring a right hand glove with me if i dont want to lose skin trying to start it hot!!!!
