My buddy has been having some noises in his motor. Well, after hemming and hawing for a while and hoping it was something stupid, we finally ripped it down and our worse suspicions were confirmed. It appears to be a conncecting rod bearing. There is a score in the front cyl wall too.
Now he's decided to go all out. I think it's going to the machine shop this weekend. He wants to bore it, put in a new cam, yada yada. Plus he's gonna send the sheet metal out to get new paint.
He hasn't even priced anything yet. The way we figure it, it's gotta be done so why bother asking how much? It's gonna get spent anyway. I was just wondering, I've always heard that the EVO lower ends are pretty bullet proof. His only has about 21K on it. Is this a common occurance with that kind of...

00 wildglide here,Just came back from Reno(street vibrations). The event was the usual with the exception of my first ride/interuption with Reno's finest in my mirror.I just pulled out of Circus,Circus's garage & guess who was right there to follow.I give my registration & license as asked...Then asked what I did.He says:NO EYE PROTECTION!,Then continued to complete my welcome donation to the wonderful biggest, little city. The thing that kills me is not the $80.00;But,the person from the department saying that this is a 2 point violation.
What the hell is this?.Anyway thanks for hearing my rant & when ever you ride at night(or day)keep them specticles on.00 wildglide.

OK ya'll I'm going to show my ignorance. I have a 97 FXSTC. When I purchased the bike I was told it had a Thunderslide carb or carb kit. I am no mechanic and I would like to know if anyone has any info on this type of carb. Also when I take the breather off is there any thing obivious that will tell me what type of carb I do have?
We all had to start somewhere so don't laugh to hard.
Thanks for any info.

Sometimes problems drive you nuts, this ones been an issue on a friends bike, it was so bad at one time he was selling it. I got 90% of it taken care of but the last 10% is driving me nuts so here's the issue, see if you can come up with a solution.
01 Ultra
stock heads, intake and cyl
tw37B cams (previously SE211)
HD Stage 1 filter and backing plate
Rienhart true duals
When started the bike starts fine and idles ok, not really too high but it will hold steady idle. It never really seems to idle up and down like an EFI should, it just goes to a steady idle, then you have to remember it's in FL so it's not like it's really cold out LOL
When you take off to ride, until the motor is really warmed up it will stumble under 3K RPM, if you whack the throttle open it will pull...
