Can anyone help me out here? I just bought a used 2005 Road King, 8,000 miles, to look at it you'd think it was brand new. But ever since I drove it out of the shop, I've been hearing this tapping noise that sounds like a valve tap. I thought it might be an exhaust leak instead, but it's apparently not it. The tapping sound seems to be coming from the front cylinder, don't notice any noise from the rear one. I took it back to the shop to have them check it out, but the basic answer I got was, " I don't hear anything unusual" and "don't worry about it, it's normal" Two different people have commented to me when I showed them the bike - basically saying "is that valves" and "should they be making that noise". Anybody got a suggestion as to what the tapping might be?

I bought forward controls for my Bob last night, and found that on the new dyna models, I have to remove the primary to perform the installation. Is there anybody who has installed forward controls on an 06 Street Bob, and what kind of pitfalls might I run into. I haven't worked on a HD before, so any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated....... I have rebuilt engines before on a couple pickups and a car, so I'm not a novice at turning a wrench, just would like to know if I pull the primary off, are springs or something gonna go wizzing past my head all over the garage or something.
Thanx

First Ironhead, any advice?
Just bought an 82' XLH
. Shows around 30K and is bone stock. Never been rebuilt, but I belive it has been well taken care of by the looks and sound of it. Starts well when cold, tracks straight, sounds fine. I've always had Evos so I am not sure what to expect. I am planning on a 3000k mile trip very soon and would like some advice on;which repair manual to bring, essential tools, pre-trip advice, what could most likely break,etc.....I don't ride hard, just long hours. Thanks to anyone who can help with anything.

I like that "speeds up to 105 mph" ROFLMAO! It's got a 200cc thumper in it that makes about 15 hp.

Sounds like it to me. Found this posted elsewhere. Sounds like a something for nothing deal. HHO??? Is that like H2O, maybe??? Is the secret supposed to be in the electrolysis of the water, some new way that's less energy intensive? The kicker is the heat they claim it gives in the torch. No way a H2 flame is going to get hot enough to cut steel.
Replace acetylene? I don't think so.
