Since the ethanol thread got such a lively and informative response, let me try another one. Last year an experienced long-time riding buddy got a totally stock EFI 2004 Road King. He immediately took a long piece of drill rod and punched out the baffles in both mufflers. He made no other modifications, ie air cleaner or map flash. He's been riding that way for almost a year with no apparent ill effects. He likes the sound better and the bike has logged at least 10,000 miles without signs of overheating, etc. Mileage is in the upper 30's to low 40's. From all I've read and seen both here and elsewhere, this is not a recommended procedure for changing the sound but it seems to have worked here. Is he inviting major damage down the road?

Help! I Have A 77 Iron Head Xlcr. It Came With A Round Slide Mikuni, Which Does A Great Job. Problem Is That I Want To Restore To Original So I Can Use Stock Breather Etc. I Purchased A Couple Of Used Kehins From Ebay,but Just Cant Get Them To Work. Both Of The Used Carbs Came With A 100 Pilot Jet And A 175 Main Jet. I Cleaned And Rebuilt ,changed To A 44 Pilot/ Still Cant Adjust. Gives Indication Of Running Lean At Low Speed, But Will Foul Plugs, Chrcked For Vac Leaks ,dont Have Any. I Suspected Problem In Low Speed Air Supply But Double Checked And Found No Restriction. I Am Fair With Wrenches, But This Is Getting Serious. Would A Later Model Cv Be A Better Choice? I was going to take off my very loud Thunderheader on my 04 FLTR. I want to go to true duals. I have used Vance & hines slip ons before and was very happy with them. I would like to have a true dual system now that I have a Branch 95in kit.

What is the difference with Big shot duals, regular duals and all the slip ons?
