I got a 72 sportster, This occured while changing brakes on my front wheel. There are two bolts that come out of the fork at the bottom to secure the axle to the fork, one of these bolts broke off. So I decided to drill and re-tap it and replace with a threaded rod. Problem 1 is i drilled to high and released the fork oil out the bottom, problem 2 is upon trying top tap the new threads i broke the tap off in the fork. 1st of all any ideas how to remove the tap, and secondly upon removing it can i seal the fork again to refill with fork oil? My idea is to drill out the tap, fill with JB weld, and drill and re-tap. Hopefully this will seal the fork oil. But not sure how to get that broken tap out. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, so here is my problem...I don't have the service manual (will get one when I get back into the states), and in less then 2 weeks, I ship the bike back to the states. In order to ship it, I need to have the battery cables disconnected (Hope I can accomplish this without help!!
) My problem is that I need to also drain the gas tank.... I am not the most mechanically inclined person and would like to do this with as little problem and spillage as possible.... anyone have a quick step by step instruction for this process? I have a 2004 E Glide Standard with EFI. I appriciate any help that I can get on this. Thanks

hey i just got my first bike bout 4 month ago. it is a 05 herriatge. i put a power commander, a arlinness super sucker and i put in a tube to run from the heads to a filter, and a thunder header. it get lousey gas milage for being fuel injected, but that could be from the way i ride.around 30 mpg. and lately it has been using alot of oil. I did have the oil changed over to synthetic(20-50), but i am wondering if that is common or not. i got about 5000 miles on it and have used 2 quarts of oil since it had 3000 miles on it. i do see that some is comming out of the top when on long rides(cuase it makes a mess on the chrome) but there is no residue on the rear end of the bike like it was burning that much but it has to be going somewhere.. Is this ok or what should i do?

I have a RevTech 100 w/Mikuni 42. Recently it's started to run rough at times. Accelerating with about mid-throttle it's missing a little, but not bad. Accelerating hard (WFO) in 4th gear it starts to get rough at around 70 mph. Then if I back off on the throttle just a bit there is a very noticable stumble and then it smooths out.
I did just recently change the exhaust for the V&H HS, but it was occasionally like this with the previous exhaust. Thought maybe it was bad fuel, but after a tank of Chevron super, it still is acting up.
Pulled the plugs, and they look fine.
If it's the jetting, where would be the place to start?
Thanks gang
