I'm in the very early stage of planning a ride to Anchorage, Alaska from here in Nevada. If anyone has made this run from the States, I'd be happy to hear any lessons learned or get any tips you might have. I've done lots of long rides, as many here should know, but it'll all be new roads once I cross into Canada (though I've road through southern Ontario and Quebec before). I'm most interested in the trek from Calgary onward: road conditions, gas stops, accommodations. Route right now is to go through northern Utah, cross Montana on I-15, to Calgary on Hwy 2, then take Hwy 43 to AK from Edmonton.
I'm planning on a solo run, but if anyone wants to join, that's cool, too. Summer of 2021 is likely my target launch window - assuming Life doesn't get in the way - or Death, for that...

Just popped in to a local fabricator/car restoration place
The guy had a Harley on the ramp for a full rebuild.
This was some fancy chop with ‘weird ‘ engine
It was a modern Harley motor, with a Morris Magneto system, a kickstart, some unknown gearbox and clutch system.
VIN plate had Harley Dsvidson on it, it looked different though
It had
Type: ?? USA RIGID
Date MFD: 1990
putting the VIN in to Harley SIP site shows the bike as a 1984 Softail
Yet original looking HD VIN says different.
Do or did Harley supply rigid frames as replacements with same VIN as original frame ?
I know they can supply a new original frame via the dealer with same VIN if headstock and VIN stamp is cut out and proved original frame is scrapped, but did they supply modified frames too?

Been cleaning carb on the 93 883 Sportster.
Previous owner said they did a rebuild..but it stank of stale fuel, the accelerator pump diaphragm was shot ( they had not changed that) and the float was sticking
So I got it apart and in the ultrasonic tank
OEM Carb 27503-92A
CV 40 right ?
After cleaing in the tank I gave a gentle blow dry with airline and the Needle seat came out.
Also a little O ring popped out.
Now
This is not the O ring for the Accelerator Pump chamber
This is not the O ring on the fuel bowl drain.
Can't see it pictured on any CV40 exploded diagrams either.
Only logical place I can see it fitting is in a chamfered recess/ bevel at the top of the emulsion tube/ bottom of the needle jet seat unit.
Can any one confrm this ? or tell me where it might go if not there.

Got myself a 1993 XLH
1HD4CAM1XP4xxxxxx
Carb
O2YA GF24
now previous owner said he just in last month fitted rebuild kit to the carb... but he did not do accel pump.
I bought bike today
It has not been used since 2002, and still has done only 2504 miles then sat in barn for many years.
ok, so I took accel pump apart just now, as float was sticking and overflow was peeing out fuel
Accel pump diaphragm is jelly, and accel pump jet riser blocked.
but I can’t see how fuel gets INTO the accel pump bowl. Only one drilling.
anyone enlighten me how it works ?
