My bike 2004 Harley 1200 Sportster
Old rear shocks getting a bit rusty and am sick of them bottoming out and banging on big road bumps, even when wound to max
So am looking at getting new rear shocks plus front springs.
Now Progressive do these fancy 990’s with external reservoir and linear springs, and then the 440 series that are traditional shape and Progressive springs
I weigh in at about 200lbs
I often ride solo.
But I do often ride two up, with panniers and rear bag. That puts all up weight in to the 380 lb area.
Anyone here any thoughts on these Progressive shocks... what if any benefit will I see in spending nearly $900 more on a set of 990’s over the 440 ?
thanks

Well I joined the Smoked Meats Club! Kids chipped in and got me a smoker. Today is the first attempt with a small pork loin. I'll post photos in the near future (if I do it right! Ha!!).

Well oh my..just had 20,000 mile service, rear cylinder leak fixed,2 new tires and wheel bearings, new battery, engine heat sensor replaced(was causing throttle issues) and warped rotors repaired. All necessary. Will take all winter to pay off...but worth it.
All set for next year.

I learned that because my FLHCS 114 bike already has a high-flow air cleaner I could replace the ultra-quiet stock mufflers with these V & H ones without a re-map or computer upgrade - so I jumped on this!!!!
I thought I was gonna have to put out big bucks to get the bike sounding like a Harley - and while $350.00 ain't free, it is a whole lot less than $1000 or more
. So these mufflers are on now and I am very happy with the sound and performance. I was surprised that I get much more of a sharp "bark" with them than the deeper sounds of my Road King's Bassani pipes, but not disappointed. As to performance, I think they have improved both power and efficiency. I do know they'll stay on at over 120MPH
. I'm also pretty sure that my computed "miles remaining" function...
