My 03 efi E glide sometimes on start up jumps up to around 1300 instead of the 1000 it's set at , is there a sensor for this or just some type of adjustment , I do have a PC 3 on the bike

HEy guys,
Im new to this forum and just wanna say really cool site, very helpful. I have been searching and cant seem to find a duplicate of my problem on the forums so here goes.
I have a 1996 sportster 883, with 1200 cylinders, wiseco 10.1 pistons,stock 883 heads,2" drag pipes , a k&n airfilter, and a mikuni hsr 42mm carb
. My problem is i have a stumble and my plugs are coming out black so i know its rich. It runs really well if you get on it hard and rifle thru the gears, occasionally breaking up on top till about 4th gear, i am guessing midrange as when i get on it, it cleans out. Then if i am cruising and i find the right rpms(no tach)
and the right gear combo i will get the same stutter and if you gas it, cleans out again. I have some experience...

I have a friend who bought an 89 Sportster 1200 not to long ago and after he starts it, it runs for about 5 seconds and then shuts off, It loses spark, Checked it with an inline spark checker. Anybody have any suggestions to what could be causing this? It just started doing this lately, it stranded him the other day, I had him check the connection on the coil and key switch and he said that all looks fine, anyone have any ideas what to check next?

If you have read any of my previous posts, you are starting to realize I am not a motor whiz!!!! But I want to learn, so here we go again......
I read alot about the best air cleaners for carburated twins, but what about the newer EFI model Harleys? If I put a high performance air cleaner on my FLSTFI, will I need to do a re-MAP? Also, what does anyone think on what air cleaners are best for the 88B?
