I'm sure this question has been answered before. I have asked so many people and gotten so many different answers, I'm looking for some good advice here. I bought my girlfriend an 04 Softail Standard and she is itching to put pipes, stage one kit and new air cleaner on it. She just went over 1,000 miles. I thought she should wait a while longer. I waited for 5,000 miles before I put new pipes and upgrades on my nightrain, based off of a mechanic's suggestion. But I've seen guys put them on before the bike even left the dealership for the first time. So what is the "correct" mileage for break-in before you put the pipes, etc. on a new bike?

I have a '03 Duece that I'm going to purchase billet wheels for. My wife has a 2002 Wideglide. Does anybody know if my takeoff rear wheel from the Duece will fit her Dyna?

Hey I was talking with a guy at work the other day. He'd overheard as I was explaining the difference between a fatboy and a road king to a prospective new buyer. I was saying how the Road king would have a few more horsepower due to the rubbermount vs. the power robbing chain counterbalancer when this guy pipes up and says that he just bought a 2004 Fatboy and they told him it was rubbermounted. As softails aren't really my forte I gave him the benefit of the doubt but said I'd be looking it up cuz to my knowledge all softails are rigid mounted and counterbalanced...So who's wrong?

Yet another story in the Chicago papers today about a Crotch Rocket "Suicycle" death. This time the guy was blazing down Lakeshore drive in the middle of the night at mach 2 and hit the curb, went airbourn, hit a light pole, and now lies in the coroners office dead dead dead. 14 motorcycle deaths in Chicago since August 31! Blood runs on the streets of Chicago, and nationwide cylce related deaths are up up up.
The lead story in the Chicago Tribune blames fast Japanese Bikes combined with youth and poor roads for the death increases. Whatever the cause, motorcycles are getting a bad rep really fast here in Chicago.
We like it LOUD AND PROUD on a Harley. We want max TQ and HP and Decibels. The 'average person' thinks I'm a Hells Angel or worse, what with all the black leather and tattoos!...

Talk about great rides!!!
Just over a week ago on Sept. 11th, I was able to participate in a GREAT ride!!! Here in So. Cal. some folks (QuickThrottle Magazine, KFRG radio, Fender Guitars, local Harley dealers and others) have been putting together an annual ride called the “Patriot Ride”. This is the 3rd year for the ride, but the first time I participated.
The ride started at a Fire Station in Rancho Cucamonga (just east of L.A. County) where there were two flatbed trailers – one had 16 tons of burnt, twisted steel girders from the WTC and the other had a heavily damaged fire truck that had helped in the WTC rescue effort.
When the ride started, the local cops blocked the surface streets as the flatbed trailers led the parade to Interstate 15 where the Highway Patrol had shut...
