Hi Guys I'm a forum newby looking for advise please as I'm pulling my hair out trying to sort this out. I'm based in the UK and have recently acquired a year 2000 HD Sportster 1200 XL Custom with only 3000 km on the clock, it come over apparently from an eastern block country and I've rectified numerous electrical faults, fitted all service parts, filters, oil etc, fitted a carb service kit and set float height as per spec, also fitted Screaming Eagle slip on's and a K+N air filter its otherwise standard, it churns and churns from cold start up then runs fine on choke however if I rev it even slightly ( unless up to running temp) it hesitates and back pops......I'm thinking of rejetting carb, new needle jet etc etc to alleviate this problem, what pilot jet, main jet, needle jet and idle...

OK, new FLHCS bike with stock bars. Yeah, they work and don't look bad, but I gotta make Cherry (this bike's name) my own. Really like Todd's Cycle 14" Gloss Black Strip bars, but figuring out what cables I will need is causing my brain to overheat. I want to stay with black cables, but I haven't found a replacement kit that will confirm it will fit my ride.
There is the other thing that gets me: handlebar measurements. I get that crossbeam/base width measurement easy enough, but the rest are fuzzy to me. Pullback? And how can I measure bars tip-to-tip if they already have controls on 'em? Grrr.
There is a solution, and that is to just go to the H-D dealer and get the Fat Chizeled mini-apes installed, as they do look better than stock and shouldn't require new cables, but I want more...

For the unaware, I go by Red Rider because I ride Ol' Red, my '99 Road King, and have been for the past 20 years. However, I am now shopping for a new, Milwaukee 8 powered Harley - probably a Road King or Road King Special, but not firm decided yet. The thing is, the new red colors just ain't doing it for me. In fact, I like almost any stock color scheme better than the available reds, and I sure ain't paying $6,000 for paint.
I've done enough reading up on the Milwaukee 8 engine the last few days that I've developed a twitch in my left eye, so I now know all about the early issues with the engine, tranny, and sensor issues. Everything points to that all being resolved now. What I am curious about is if anyone runs there M8 bike stock, or Stage 1, 2, 3 or 4, and how they like it that...

Planning on a ride to see Johnny Biker and Hot Rider out in Minnesota. Good people, good riders. That is something this site has made possible, linking up with folks that are of the same mindset as of other dedicated bikers. Gonna head out in late June or early July from here in central Nevada. Just a 3500 mile or so run, depending on route. Can take me through many Western states, but I do plan on hitting eastern Colorado at one point, probably on the way out, but that is flexible. Semper Gumby! Anyone interested on a meet? In the past I've met some great folks on my travels, and am not asking for a room or anything...just a chance for meeting fellows riders. So there it is. If you want to link up, say so. If not, just wish me luck. I don't pick a route unless I have a destination...
