Hey guys I just bought the 2008 Sportster, and I have noticed that the rear brakes make a noise just rolling with the motor off. It sounds like car brakes with pads worn down and it is intermittant
I bought some new pads and I have noticed after seeing the new pads that the existing pads have a ton of life on them. Is this a common thing for Harley or is there something else I can look at?
Also can someone tell me what size the torx bolt is that holds the front brake caliper on?
Thanks

Okay, I gave up on the Sporty front wheel & brake - and am now looking for an old Hallcraft "half mini" front drum brake. I only need it for holding the bike from rolling at stops, and will enable me to put at least one foot down if I miss neutral and have to keep my foot on the clutch. I am going to go with a slap shift (suicide clutch) set up, and the brake will come in very helpful.
My bike is very light, only 425 lbs. with gas in the tank. I believe the small brake will work very well for the purpose I have in mind for it.
The Hallcraft half mini has the appearance of one of the very old drum brakes seen on the old Harley flatheads, only a bit smaller, and of course it's chromed.

A friends son was on his Harley , girl was texting in a car that come in his lane and hit him head on.
Another dude I know that drives a yellow road glide had a girl to pull out in front of him. He's also dead..
I was coming back from town yesterday on a farm road. Looked at a curve in front of me and one truck was passing another truck on a yellow line headed right for the front end my bike. I had to git on the brakes and git on the edge of the road .
WTF is wrong with people.
